Job Summary

Gryphon Capital Investments, a Barings Company, is a specialist fixed income manager operating in the Australian RMBS and ABS fixed income markets.

Gryphon uses a proprietary ESG (environmental, social, governance) assessment to evaluate the positioning of Australian securitisation issuers across various ESG issues. This assessment is a crucial component of Gryphon's ESG integration and stewardship initiatives and requires periodic updates to maintain relevance and monitor issuer progress.

Gryphon is seeking a part-time individual to actively contribute to the revision and administration of a new iteration of the ESG questionnaire. This opportunity is ideal for a student with a keen interest in fixed income and/or sustainable finance. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with the Gryphon quantitative analytics team, working under the guidance of the team ESG lead.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the revision of questionnaire content and scoring
  • Implement agreed changes to the questionnaire and scoring application in Excel and VBA
  • Distribute the questionnaire to participants and track responses
  • Process returned responses through the questionnaire scoring application
  • Analyse results, including the distribution of scores and performance of various subgroups
  • Generate reports summarising the assessment results and feedback for participants

Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., finance, economics, science, mathematics)
  • Interest in sustainable finance/ESG
  • Basic understanding of finance concepts and terminology
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Experience with VBA or basic coding skills in another language is a plus
  • Data analysis skills, including processing, analysing, interpreting, and visualising data
  • Detail-oriented
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a small team environment
