Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Senior Accountant to join our General Ledger team at Liquidnet, an agency execution specialist within TP ICAP Group. In this role, you will manage the accurate and timely closing of approximately 35 entities across the US, Canada, and South America, in line with TP ICAP accounting deadlines. Your primary responsibilities include preparing and maintaining monthly journal entries, reconciling general ledger account balances, and analyzing trends, costs, and revenues for supervisor review. You will collaborate closely with FP&A and Business Partner teams and play a key role in process improvements and automation within the General Ledger team. Additionally, you will work on cost analysis, liaise with auditors, and support smooth transitions for newly acquired companies as they integrate into TP ICAP systems and processes.

Role Responsibilities
  • Oversee the monthly close of TP ICAP Americas legal entities, managing the accounting operations of approximately 35 entities across the US, Canada, and South America.
  • Maintain and record monthly journal entries in the general ledger, including intercompany transactions, fixed assets, cash, FX gains and losses, prepaid and accrued expenses, and deferred and accrued income.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis and reconciliation of general ledger account balances using supporting documentation.
  • Prepare and compile monthly reports for finance clients and stakeholders outside of finance.
  • Evaluate trends, costs, revenues, and financial commitments for supervisory review, providing actionable insights.
  • Work with accounting teams across various offices within the US, Asia, and EMEA to manage and streamline intercompany activities.
  • Coordinate closely with compensation teams to ensure accurate allocation and recognition of revenue and costs by broker and desk.
  • Provide comprehensive commentary and insights on monthly and year-to-date performance to FP&A and Business Partner teams, comparing against prior periods.
  • Drive continuous improvements within the Financial Reporting team, identifying opportunities to enhance work processes and efficiency.
  • Facilitate smooth transitions for newly acquired companies into TP ICAP systems and processes, providing accounting support and guidance.
Experience / Competences

  • 2-5 years of experience working in a finance department with a strong understanding of US GAAP and IFRS accounting standards for effective general ledger accounting.
  • Proficiency in preparing and maintaining monthly journal entries, including intercompany transactions and cash accounts.
  • Advanced skills in analyzing and reconciling general ledger account balances with supporting documentation.
  • Ability to generate and compile monthly financial reports for clients within finance and outside finance.
  • Strong capability in evaluating financial trends, costs, revenues, and commitments for supervisor review.
  • Excellent communication skills for liaising with accounting teams across global offices.
  • Competence in coordinating with compensation teams for accurate revenue and cost allocation by broker and desk.
  • Intermediate Excel skills, including PivotTables and VLOOKUP, for data analysis and financial reporting.
  • Familiarity with accounting systems such as Oracle, HFM, or similar platforms.
  • Solid experience supporting the financial integration of newly acquired companies into existing systems and processes.
  • Familiarity with cost analysis and experience working with auditors for financial compliance.
  • Reasonable continuous improvement mindset focused on enhancing accounting processes and workflow efficiency.
  • Knowledge of financial data visualization and reporting tools for presenting data effectively to stakeholders.
  • Experience working with compensation teams for accurate cost management and allocation.
  • General understanding of market trends and conditions within the financial industry.
Annual Salary: $90,000 - $110,000
