An established education institution is seeking a Senior Payroll Officer to join their team on a full-time permanent basis. The role will be based on-site in their Perth CBD office.
Your new role
Reporting to the HRIS/Payroll Manager, the Senior Payroll Officer is primarily responsible for managing the end-to-end payroll process for the staff across the organisation. The role involves handling all payroll-related tasks including processing payroll for new starters, terminations, and changes to contracts, maintaining accurate payroll records, and serving as a point of contact for any payroll-related enquiries. The Senior Payroll Officer will work closely with the payroll team and Payroll/HRIS Manager to ensure all payroll processes are executed accurately and efficiently.
Areas of responsibility:
  • End-to-end weekly and monthly payroll processing.
  • Award interpretation.
  • Single Touch Payroll (STP) processing.
  • Termination calculations.
  • New employee onboarding.
  • Salary packaging.
  • End of month reconciliation and reporting.
  • Workers' compensation claim processing.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful, you will meet the following requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a payroll position, preferably within an educational institution.
  • Experience with a medium to large scale HRIS or ERP solution, familiarity with iChris and Frontier systems are desirable.
  • Certificate IV in Payroll Administration is advantageous.
  • Exceptional organisational skills with strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to also work independently.
