Job Description

JOB PURPOSE
To complete VAT reconciliation and payment activities and provide support and assistance to ensure regulatory requirements/standards are met and maintained.
  • VAT Reconciliation:
    Reconcile VAT computations from relevant financial accounting records in the preparation of VAT returns to ensure completeness and accuracy of information submitted to the Federal Tax Authority
    Arrange for payment of VAT and submission of VAT returns in order to meet ADCB's regulatory obligations to the Federal Tax Authority.
    Review samples of documentation (For example: Tax invoices, contracts etc.) in order to substantiate the accuracy and completeness of VAT accounting journals posted to the financial accounts.
  • Support and Assistance:
    Provide support in addressing ad-hoc technical VAT queries received from the business and liaise directly with relevant stakeholders in order to address any VAT anomalies
    Support in researching relevant international legislation and tax rulings in order to support the resolving of technical queries and benchmark against best practices
    Assist in drafting submissions/letters to external parties (For example; customers or the Federal Tax Authority) in order to clarify VAT queries, make proposals or provide technical papers seeking clarification on a VAT position/approach taken by the Bank
    Assist with the preparation of PowerPoint training materials and the delivery of VAT training to internal teams/relevant business stakeholders in order to raise awareness of VAT, associated risks and compliance requirements.

    Adhere to all relevant organisational and departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out to the required standard and in a consistent manner while delivering the required standard of service to customers and stakeholders.

Skills

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
  • At least 4 years of experience in a Tax and Accounting environment
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or equivalent
  • Data Analysis
    Advanced Microsoft Excel
