Our Mission

Simply Wall St exists to enable individuals to succeed at stock investing and achieve their financial goals. The stock market offers an exceptional opportunity for wealth-building, but many fail. It's tempting to try and rush it, to get rich quick, however, it's much better (and easier) to think in decades, not months, and imagine becoming a shareholder in a business.

Our product embodies the principles of long-term investing, giving individual investors the capabilities to understand stocks and build a portfolio that was previously only available to professionals or institutions.

Why Join?

- Help us empower individuals by giving them a new way to invest in stocks;

- Work at a profitable, global, B2C SaaS startup;

- Operating at scale with 6.5 million users, across 180 countries;

- Small team and flexible working environment;

- Work with a product customers love: 4.5* Trustpilot Reviews;

- Strong employee retention with 70% of the team with us for >2 years.

The Role

Simply Wall St is looking for a Chief Operating Officer (COO). It is a hands-on and strategic role combining Operations, Product-led Growth, Finance and Strategy. This is a unique opportunity for the right person who understands how product-led organisations work to help us continue our mission to empower individual stock investors. While the role has some core areas of ownership, you'll find solutions to whatever problems arise to drive the business forward.

Team and Reporting Structure
    • Report directly to the Founder and be part of the leadership team alongside the Founder and CTO.
    • Our company size is 50 employees across Australia and the Philippines. You will be responsible for 2 direct reports: An FP&A Analyst, and Financial Accountant.

Business & Finance Operations
    • Ensure the business is well-run: Finance, Investor Relations, and Corporate governance.
    • Ownership of Shareholder-related matters (investor relations, ESOP, cap table)
    • Lead in contract negotiation (customer and supplier) including data, technology suppliers and B2B.
    • Help the team put together documentation for compliance and grant applications (e.g. R&D or AFSL)
    • Run our AGM and facilitate board meetings

Company Strategy
    • Work with leadership on company strategy definition & goal-setting.
    • Be a critical part of the strategic direction of the company.
    • Help strategic ideas take root and provide early facilitation and implementation.
    • Responsible for setting company milestones and ensuring the right organisational structure for the team to achieve their goals, finding knowledge and skills gaps and helping to address them.

People Operations
    • Ensure people are happy & high performing: Recruitment, Performance, Culture & Rituals.
    • Determine key performance indicators in the business and how to measure and improve team performance.
    • Taking ownership of hiring to ensure every team is set up for success and thriving.

Other
    • Move between operating tactically, strategically and operationally, often connecting the dots across teams and filling the gaps where a project doesn't fall neatly within one function's area of responsibility
    • Enabling the success of the leadership team by being accountable for any operational strategic projects that fall between the seems across the business.
    • Have the flexibility to spot and secure opportunities for Simply Wall St and execute these projects.

What we are looking for
    • SaaS (Software as a service): Worked in a Software as a Service startup before and have a clear understanding of the core SaaS and financial metrics. Know the definition of these terms: ARR, churn, ARPU, onboarding, and retention.
    • Leadership & People Management: Experience leading and coaching cross-functional teams. Previously reported/ supported executives or leadership. You know when to delegate and when to be hands-on
    • Finance & Commercial: Can check payroll tax, read an income statement, P&L or balance sheet, assist with the budgeting process, and know the difference between cash flow and earnings. Think strategically and execute tactically.
    • Product Mindset & Product-led Growth: You understand the dynamics of a product team and what drives growth.
    • Communication & Collaboration: Stakeholder management. Driving conversations forward and communicating with clarity and conviction to different stakeholders. Excellent listener and facilitator. Understand who you need to bring on the journey and how. Employee and customer-centric in your decisions.
    • Growth Mindset & Problem-Solving: Strategic, analytical, and logical. Ability to synthesise a lot of information, define a problem and then determine and implement a solution. Ability to learn what you don't know, act on opportunities and find solutions to problems without needing guidance. Take ownership of, deliver on and prioritise multiple, conflicting projects and see them through to completion. Organised and execution-focused in delivery. Natural ability to break big tasks into smaller sub-tasks that can be monitored and tracked

If you don't meet all the criteria above, please still apply.
