The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Regulatory Reporting Specialist to join our amazing team here at RLA on a permanent basis.

Reporting to the Finance & Actuarial Chapter Area and the Regulatory Reporting team you will be responsible for the delivery of several investment management related regulatory returns for our trustees and to APRA.

This will involve working closely with key stakeholders to gather requirements, identify and analyse data from multiple sources to ensure accurate data is made available to our regulators.

You would be required to work on reporting solution uplift and changes as regulatory obligations and requirements change over time.

As a member of the Regulatory Reporting team there will be ample opportunities to work closely with the key business stakeholders across RLA such as Product, Investment Management, Data & Analytics and Finance teams, as well as our data owners and leadership team. There will be a requirement to also liaise with and work with our external stakeholders.

Your Story
Primarily working with the Regulatory Reporting team within the Finance & Actuarial space, you will play a key role in defining and driving enterprise data and reporting to support regulatory APRA submission within the investment management data domain.

  • Strong and proven experience driving innovation in analytics/technology change and stakeholder management.
  • Running and maintaining reporting solutions in PowerBi and Power Query for investment management regulatory returns.
  • Use of appropriate methods (e.g., written, verbal, visual, etc.) to effectively communicate analysis and research to relevant internal and external decision-makers, stakeholders, and other audiences.
  • Investigate and analyse business processes across a business group to identify, recommend and implement improvements where appropriate.
  • Running or participating in workshops to gather requirements for key stakeholders.
  • Acquiring data from different sources (Flat File/Snowflake/SQL Server/MS Access/Cloud/Azure/External)
  • Interpret data, analyse results using various techniques to provide key insights, data transformation logic and perform assessment of data quality.
  • Develop strategies that help improve data quality and business operating efficiency.
  • Work closely with management to prioritise business and information needs, helping the project to prioritise delivery to regulatory dates.
  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities in the sourcing, management, and maintenance of enterprise data.
  • Manage and guide uplift in reporting solutions

  • The candidate should display the ability to draw learnings from across the business and best practices in the industry, a strong sense of the market trends and be able to integrate them into actionable steps.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Work with business owners and key stakeholders to elicit, analyse, communicate, and validate requirements and then document these requirements into data specifications.
  • Ability to visualise and communicate complex solutions, insights, and challenges to a wide audience of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and experience using various database solutions for analysing large datasets is a pre-requisite.
  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
  • Proven ability to work proactively with a use of initiative and early escalation of issues

Ideal experience
  • Experience in life insurance and Regulatory reporting
  • Proven working experience as a reporting analyst
  • Experience driving large scale simplification and transformation projects.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • IT bachelor's degree or demonstrated on the job experience.
  • An interest in Advanced Analytics, Reporting and AI
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles
  • Exposure to and understanding of Superannuation Fund accounting.
  • Exposure to and understanding of asset management fundamentals
  • Understanding of and exposure to APRA reporting regulations
  • Strong understanding of PowerBi & PowerQuery
