This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a specialised team of financial control experts seeking to ensure that Aviva has an effective and robust control structure as it transitions to a leaner, more streamlined finance function. The purpose of this role is to ensure that we maintain an effective financial reporting control environment across the global finance function both by testing the design and operating effectiveness of existing controls and advising on the control environment.
The role will also be at the forefront of driving change as we move from manual to more automated controls so a strong curiosity about process and control improvement is required.
A bit about the job:
You will plan and perform design adequacy assessments and operational effectiveness testing of financial reporting controls in line with FRCF (Financial Reporting Control Framework) methodology.
You will report to the senior manager on the assessment of the design and operating effectiveness of controls and work with control owners to ensure that all control deficiencies are remediated appropriately and within agreed timeframes. You will also work closely with external auditors to ensure that they can place reliance on the assurance work performed by the FRCF team. This role contributes to the production of reports to key partners including Board and Audit Committees on the effectiveness of financial controls, and the internal control environment.
Skills and experience we're looking for:
Qualified accountant or actuary with recent external audit experience within Financial Services - ideally IFRS 17 experience
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and with the ability to communicate across all levels and across different geographies.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to adapt between collaboration and working independently as needed.
Recent controls experience with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
Excellent proven stakeholder management skills.
What you'll get for this role:
Our purpose - with you today, for a better tomorrow - is a promise we make to our colleagues too. And one of the ways we live up to that promise is by investing in you. We have so much to offer when it comes to being an Aviva colleague.
Salary circa £55,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
Bonus opportunity -10% of annual salary Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva's.
Generous pension scheme - Aviva will contribute up to 14%, depending on what you put in.
29 days holiday plus bank holidays, and you can choose to buy or sell up to 5 days
Make your money go further - Up to 40% discount on Aviva products, and other retailer discounts
Up to £1,200 of free Aviva shares per year through our Matching Share Plan and share in the success of Aviva with our Save As You Earn scheme
Brilliantly supportive policies including parental and carer's leave
Flexible benefits to suit you, including sustainability options such as cycle to work
Make a difference, be part of our Aviva Communities and use your 3 paid volunteering days to help others
We take your wellbeing seriously with lots of support and tools
