Statutory Accountant - Finance Manager

6-month Fixed Term Contract

£110,000 - £130,000 per annum (pro-rated), benefits

Home based with occasional travel to the head office in the City Area of London.


They are a global financial services group and one of the top 20 companies in the world in its field having made major acquisitions over the last 5 years. The Group is acquisitive and highly complex private equity backed group. It is an urgent hire. This a role for someone to start as soon as possible and could also result in a permanent offer for the right person. The role is part of the Financial Controllership team delivering overdue external reporting and for accelerating the completion of the current year external reporting cycle. The role will concentrate on statutory reporting. In this role, entities financial statements are being prepared in accordance with IFRS for the first time. The role will therefore suit an individual that is experienced in preparing IFRS financial statements.

  • Qualified accountant from any industry background
  • Strong skillset and experience in IFRS financial statements preparation, and corporate accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, in particular financial statement disclosures.
  • Strong General Ledger skills
  • Ability to present information in a concise, efficient, and professional manner.
  • Proactive, show initiative, have an enquiring mind, and demonstrate resourcefulness to be successful in the role.


Reporting to a Finance Director, the role includes the following:
  • Preparing prior year IFRS financial statements (2022 and earlier) including:
  • Preparation of IFRS statutory accounts and disclosures;
  • Reviewing contracts and supporting documentation to determine the accounting for past transactions;
  • Liaison with business, legal and M&A teams to determine the accounting relevant for each entity as applicable; and
  • Liaison with the tax team to determine tax accounting and disclosures.
  • Supporting the finalisation of prior year statutory accounts (2022) for 3 separate limited companies.
  • Updating the books and records of Group entities in Microsoft D365 so that external reporting agrees to D365, including:
  • Preparing journals (including investing activity, corporate costs & recharges, legal & other adviser fees and employee benefit trusts);
  • Reviewing general ledger postings;
  • Reviewing the intercompany holding account to propose accounting for items posted by corporate entities; and
  • Preparing account reconciliations and collating supporting data as required.
  • Preparing current year IFRS statutory accounts (2023) for five entities.
