Job Details
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual preferably with the CFA designation to join a fast-paced specialist Surety underwriting team. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated & proactive individual, to join as Surety Underwriter/Senior Underwriter who will provide high-quality & technical underwriting analysis, consistent with risk appetite and underwriting guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain a profitable book of Surety business throughout UKI
- Organize, participate, and where appropriate, lead in client meetings and surety networks
- Originate new business relationships and transaction opportunities/Grow the business with existing clients taking accountability for the performance of assigned clients and transactions
- Implementing pricing and selection standards that support strategic objectives and achieve desired financial goals set by management
- Providing highest level of product quality and customer service
- Interact regularly with clients and brokers to collect relevant information, to originate new business and to ensure client monitoring/Relationship management of current portfolio
- Marketing and Communications. Ability to sell and negotiate to achieve bottom line profitability for the Company. Ability to make presentations and communicate articulately.
- Ensure completion of administrative tasks such as reporting, system data entries and maintenance/ Independent review of corporate credit information: annual statements, interim reporting, budgets and credit lines; create risk assessments and annual reviews
- Issuance of Surety policies
- Financial proficiency. Thorough understanding of financial statements and ratios used in risk analysis.
- Legal proficiency. Ability to analyse & understand basic contractual documentation and demonstrate a strong/sound understanding of the concept of counter-indemnity, inter-creditor agreements, creditor priority ranking and structural subordination.
- Systems and programs. Ability to use systems and software programs needed to conduct daily business.
What skills & experience are required?
- Underwriter or Credit Analyst. Individuals currently working in corporate banking, treasury, trade finance, or rating agencies are encouraged to apply.
- Preferably degree (Economics, Business, Law) or equivalent by experience. Full CFA designation highly desirable
- Curious, strong work ethic, resourceful, collaborative with the ability to work in a small energetic team
- Excellent analytical, communication, negotiating and computer skills,
- A positive customer-oriented approach and self-motivated orientation,
- Has an acute awareness of industry trends and external economic factors, and extrapolates what the impact of such trends and factors will be on our business and our customers’ business.
