THE LEGAL DIVISION

We work at the intersection of finance and law, providing counsel and advice that support activities across the firm. We handle litigation and arbitration, perform research and due diligence, aid in financing and legal filings, deal with contracts and intellectual property rights that show our commitment to clients, shareholders, and regulators. Whether you're an experienced attorney or a quick learner with a strong interest in financial law coupled with critical thinking skills, our dynamic group might be right for you.
OUR IMPACT
Private Wealth Management (PWM) is part of the Asset and Wealth Management Division of Goldman Sachs. PWM provides a comprehensive range of investment services, including discretionary investment management, investment advice, brokerage services and lending, to wealthy individuals and families worldwide, across a diversified range of asset classes, including equities, fixed income, structured products, derivatives, hedge funds and other alternative investments. PWM in EMEA focuses primarily on individuals, families and family offices based in EMEA, who may invest individually or through a wide variety of investment vehicles including corporates, trusts, partnerships, regulated and unregulated funds, in a broad range of jurisdictions.
Marcus UK (Marcus) is part of the Private Banking, Lending and Deposits Division of Goldman Sachs. Marcus offers a variety of competitive savings products to help meet the needs of its UK retail customers and to help them reach their financial goals.
The EMEA WM Legal team supporting the PWM and Marcus business is based in London, Frankfurt, Zurich and Birmingham.
YOUR IMPACT
The role requires the ability to work independently and to work closely with a diverse group of clients across the PWM and Marcus businesses and the broader Legal Division.
More specifically, the role responsibilities include:
  • Supporting the general functioning of the Legal office in the Swiss Goldman Sachs entities.
  • This includes corporate secretary work, including the preparation of shareholders' meetings and board meetings, updating commercial registers as well as liaising with external parties and regulatory authorities and general corporate housekeeping tasks.
  • Working and liaising with Compliance professionals and other colleagues in Legal on a wide range of topics, including client complaints, inquiries from regulators, law enforcement agencies and auditors.
  • Supporting the WM business in general with regard to client account structures and life-cycle events, the processing of third party requests, reviewing corporate documents, maintaining and preparing letters for account openings.
  • General administrative support including keeping applicable policies and procedures up-to-date and general Legal office work such as practical support with presentations.
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
  • We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, proactive and resilient candidate from a variety of academic backgrounds, who is ideally interested in legal issues and the interaction of finance.
  • A law degree is a plus but not a requirement.
  • Fluent English language skills and knowledge of another major European language would be beneficial.
