Job Description

The role can be tailored to the strengths of the individual and so the successful candidate could equally come from a fully compliance / UK tax technical role or a tax reporting background.

This large banking organisation is looking for a Senior Manager to join their UK corporation tax team based in Canary Wharf (min 2 days per week).

You will join a team of c. 20 tax specialists in the team, with responsibility for oversight of all tax technical issues arising from the UK companies (for which most of compliance preparation is outsourced to one of the Big 4), UK tax advisory and project work and group tax reporting on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. The role can be tailored to the strengths of the individual and so the successful candidate could equally come from a fully compliance / UK tax technical role or a tax reporting background.

The role will include:
  • Providing insight and analysis and on a variety of technical areas: share based payments, pensions, fixed assets, capital gains, controlled foreign companies and group relief
  • Taking full ownership of the calculations for your allocated technical areas for the entities within the UK Group
  • Ensuring that the group is taking the correct tax positions in our returns in the current and prior years while ensuring that they are consistent with our Group tax principles
  • Being responsible for specific inputs into the preparation of the annual corporation tax return for the main Group tax return which is prepared by the Corporation Tax team
  • Driving the continuous improvement and documentation of corporation tax compliance processes and control
  • Reviewing and signing off of corporation tax returns of a portfolio of UK tax resident entities, prepared by an outsourced service provider, ensuring that these are in line with agreed policies
  • Leading on elements of the corporation tax forecasting and stress testing processes on key technical areas to ensure that we are accurately anticipating future impacts of technical positions
  • Providing support for the quarterly and year-end tax reporting processes as required; driving continuous improvement and documentation of corporation tax reporting and forecasting


The ideal candidate will be a qualified UK corporation tax specialist (ACA/CTA or equivalent) with expereince of tax compliance /tax reporting processes and practical experience of applying UK tax legislation to a complex group. They will need to be a strong communicator with a pro-active approach.

This is a full-time position, but strong applicants might be considered for a part-time role working 4 days per week.
