Risk Advisor, Assurance and Advisory

Become a founding member of an internal risk assurance and advisory practice, directly assisting risk and control owners with risk assurance and advisory needs across the enterprise and projects. You will focus on supporting the business to review and uplift risks and controls, while operating within the Bank's risk framework.
Partnering with internal customers (Line 1 and Line 3), you will deliver high quality risk outcomes for a variety of areas across the bank.

Your background (one or more of these areas of experience and knowledge would be highly desirable):
- Experience (minimum 5 years) in risk and controls assurance experience in Financial Services and / or professional services firm.
- Designing and testing controls through audits and internal control assurance.
- Risk management improvement activities, including risk workshops, risk assessments and analysis.
- Third Party Risk Management with exposure to frameworks and assessments.
- Risk-in-Change
- Cyber / ESG risk assessments and controls
- Prudential risk frameworks
About You:
- Ability to nurture relationship with diverse stakeholders - especially L1 and L3
- Competency in information gathering, reporting, and risk assessment facilitation.
- Critical thinker challenging the status quo and quick learner.
- Experience interacting with Executive Management.
- Expertise in planning and executing control testing programs.
- Knowledge of best practice risk and compliance frameworks
- Ability to work autonomously, communicate effectively including professional report writing skills, analyse numeric and non-numeric data, with attention to detail to produce effective and accurate reports.
- Experience at prioritising and working in a deadline-oriented environment.
- Strong team player to work with multiple collaborative teams is essential.
- Enjoys problem solving and engaging others through the process.
Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualifications finance, risk, compliance or related discipline. CA / CPA / IIA and other professional qualifications will be preferred.
What will you do?
- Designing and testing controls through audits and internal control assurance.
- Identifying, and mitigating risks, developing strategies, maintaining a risk register, and collaborating with different teams.
- Effective relationship management and training to support Banking Executives in understanding their risk accountabilities and uplift knowledge of the control environment within all teams.
- Identify improvements, including automation opportunities, in the control design to improve customer experience, mitigate risk and ensure compliance with Bank obligations.
- Ensure control testing and assurance activities align with internal Policies, Frameworks and Standards, regulatory requirements and reasonable steps requirement
- Analytical reviews of risk management practices throughout the Bank.
- Support incident reporting processes.
