Job Introduction
Our Operational Security team is growing and has significantly increased in size and scope over the last 12 months. This expansion will continue as the team grows to support the Bank's modernisation agenda. To help deliver our exciting Technology modernisation strategy, we are looking for a deputy department head who is passionate about building secure innovative and pragmatic solutions. Handelsbanken is a bank built on its relationships with its Customers. UKTI has relationships at its core and the post holder must build and develop relationships within and outside of the Bank to ensure good security is baked into everything we do with risks being managed appropriately. A fundamental part of this role is ensuring that the UK Bank can prove to its regulators that its security posture is fit for purpose, appropriately documented and any risks are managed according to the Bank's control standards. Equally important is that the Security Operations team are appropriately trained to conduct their duties for Governance, Risk and Control (GRC) tasks and technical duties.

Main Responsibilities
The main purpose of the of the Operational Security manager role is to:
  • Deputise for the Head of Operational Security as required
  • Act as the security leader for the designated programmes of work in Handelsbanken plc.
  • Implement, maintain, improve and where possible automate the UK owned and/or operated processes and procedures as required for all aspects of Operational Security standard controls with specific focus on the analysis, management, mitigation and documentation of risk
  • Own the quality plan for all Security Operations deliverables to ensure they meet the needs of the bank and our Regulators
  • Ensure the Security Operations team is appropriately skilled and trained to fulfil the Bank's needs by developing and implementing a training plan across the team and ensuring it is applied
  • Forge strong partnerships with Change Management/Engineering/Development teams to integrate Security and ensure security is considered as part of the project and agile change lifecycles with risks identified, assessed and managed.
  • Develop and maintain a strong working partnership with our parent bank's security and operational teams
  • Lead mixed internal teams to manage security incidents in accordance with the Bank's processes and act as an advisor to the Bank's senior leadership in the event of a security incident
  • Represent the UK Information Security Team at Governance Committees, and coordinate regular reporting and submissions, to ensure and support the Committee's oversight
  • Maintain close relationships with stakeholders such as UK Technology, Group Security, Risk, Project Demanders, Internal Audit
  • Provide specialist Information Security advice and challenge on mitigation plans

The role holder should have a current and up to date understanding of all aspects of Operational Security in a corporate environment preferably financial services, including
  • Information Security Governance, Risk and Control frameworks
  • Proven knowledge of compliance, UK regulatory requirements and experience managing audits
  • Cloud technologies such as IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, Azure Active Directory, M365
  • Knowledge of building Security into modern Software Development techniques and pipelines
  • Technical Security/Engineering background with a track record in Security Operations
  • lead, manage and develop strong teams across multiple locations, including wellbeing and performance of a team;
  • influence decision making to surface and mitigate operational issues and risks across a wide range of stakeholders, up to and including senior management / executive
  • prioritise and deliver competing priorities and manage stakeholders effectively
  • own and / or oversight the delivery of key processes and/or improvement projects
  • take responsibility and act autonomously;
  • plan, organise and prioritise tasks and projects;
  • have the ability to solve problems creatively and effectively;
  • be a strong team player;
