About the team:
Our Segment Accounting team based in Manchester are responsible for the legacy Worldpay entities. The team prepare, analyse, and report the financial results of the business in a well-controlled, accurate and timely manner. We work closely with the entire business to ensure we can meet our financial commitments and performance targets. The key objectives are to deliver the numbers, help to grow the business and manage and control by ensuring we have good governance in place.
We are looking for a newly qualified or part-qualifies Accountant to join the team.
About the role:
As an assistant accountant working within the platform accounting control team supporting the Senior Accounts with general accounting support including recording general ledger journal entries, preparing monthly P&L's, and conducting balance sheet account reconciliations and investigative work. In addition, you will be an integral part of the accounting control function providing valuable support towards statutory and SOX control audits.
You will have the opportunity to own and develop your own legal entities financial reporting, with the guidance and support form a wide team of experienced and qualified accountants. Future growth will come as the organisation expands into new territories and products.

What you will be doing:
- Use financial data, from our internal treasury management system and other sources, to prepare and record general ledger journal entries.
- Create the monthly financial P&L for WPAP, ready for consolidation into the monthly reported results.
- Become the SME for WPAP financial record keeping, expanding product and process knowledge to drive efficiencies in process design and the control environment.
- Prepare the monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Research period over period variances in revenue, cost of sales and expense and provide logical explanations for fluctuations.
- Assist internal stakeholders by providing information required to file statutory accounts, complete SOX controls, and conduct SOX testing across all elements of the accounting team.
- Support the wider team, responsible for the accounting for all Worldpay products, with any accounting, audits, or control activities.
- Experience of working in a high-volume data driven business, working with vast and complex data sets.
- Advanced excel manipulation skills - with the ability to understand and write mid-level complexity formulas.
- Knowledge of auditing processes and procedures as well as accounting principles, financial statements, practices, and procedures.
- Skilled in analytical examination.
- Part Qualified: studying towards a professional financial qualification.
- Strong diligence and attention to detail.
- Inquisitive and exploratory nature - a thirst for continual knowledge.
- Ability to work in an organized manner and consistently follow-up on tasks
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Knowledge of a transactional monitoring system
