Job Introduction

The first line of defense risk team are responsible for supporting the management of operational and conduct risk within the UK bank.

Our role is to ensure the business has a comprehensive and accurate view of its risks by providing guidance, support and assurance to senior management that the business are identifying, assessing, managing and reporting its risks adequately and accurately.

In this role, you will be working with a growing and experienced risk management team which is responsible for providing high quality analysis, advice and guidance on the management of operational and conduct risk to ensure that business complies with the relevant policies, frameworks and regulatory expectations.

The purpose of the Operational Risk Partner is to provide the business with quality support in their management of all operational risks through the delivery and embedding of the various risk management processes and initiatives.

Main Responsibilities
  • Providing support for their own risk portfolio which will be managed in accordance with the Operational Risk Management Framework and relevant risk and compliance policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining an agreed schedule around the delivery of new RCSA's (where applicable), annual risk reviews, and Annual RSCA Refresh Workshops.
  • Chairing Monthly Risk Forums with various business functions and other key stakeholders.
  • Reviewing and monitoring action plans to fill gaps identified from either risk management activities (including IRAMs etc.), or compliance / audit findings.
  • Identifying gaps in action planning and highlight areas of improvement to ensure risks are adequately managed within the risk tolerance of the bank.
  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships across the wider risk management community within the organisation.
  • Support risk owners in the establishment of new or enhanced risks where necessary
  • Supporting the embedding of operational risk, ensuring Senior Management are aware of their risk and control environment they have responsibility for.
Ideal Candidate

  • Experience in operational risk management with a solid understanding of retail banking; together with the associated processes and risks.
  • Experience in leading and facilitating Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA's).
  • Be skilled in preparing high quality presentation for meetings and workshops.
  • Be able to demonstrate strong written and verbal communications skills and have an ability to lead conversations to ensure understanding.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills; with the ability to challenge and influence a range of stakeholders
  • An industry recognised qualification for operational risk or risk management would be desirable but isn't essential.
