The Opportunity
As a quant strategist, you'll be responsible for providing quantamental insights on MassMutual's commercial real estate loan book, leveraging both third party tools and proprietary models. The role overtime will grow to even greater responsibility in shaping MassMutual's investment allocation and strategy.

The Team
The immediate team is composed of quantitative developers and strategists with proclivity for solving both technical and business problems. The team is part of the larger R&D group within Investment Management overseeing the General Investment Account. The team is very hands-on and proactive about engaging new ideas and challenges.

The Impact
  • Provide analytic and investment insights on MassMutual's commercial mortgage loan (CML) book in addition to other illiquid and private assets
  • Drive value-add, thought leadership in quant credit and high impact projects to enhance and protect net investment income
  • Work closely with our Commercial Real Estate Investment Team and other stakeholders in managing MassMutual's CML book
  • Develop and productionize statistical models for risk assessment and asset performance forecasting
  • Introduce quantitative overlay for underwriting loans and mortgages
  • Curate and leverage alternative data to provide investment insights and impute missing/stale data
  • Support workouts as needed
  • Create ad hoc financial statement models for valuation and pricing
  • Provide climate risk assessment for CML
  • Lead CECL CML calculations

The Minimum Qualifications
  • 10+ years working in financial services as quant strategist
  • Holds a bachelor's in a technical field
  • Advanced capability in developing and applying statistical and economic models especially with imbalanced data
  • Excellent communication skills explaining complicated quantitative concepts to nontechnical stakeholders and influencing portfolio managers
  • Experience in providing requirements to developers and managing project from development to production
  • Python scripting proficiency
  • Knowledge of Capital Markets

The Ideal Qualifications
  • Holds a master's degree in financial engineering, statistics, machine learning, econometrics or similar disciplines
  • Relevant certifications: CQF, CFA, ARPM, FRM, PRM, or CAIA
  • Experience in quant credit ideally in illiquid and private assets
  • Understanding of macroeconomic impacts on real estate
  • Knowledge of Python's analytic and statistical modeling package ecosystem
