About the Role
This role has a broad remit working to support senior stakeholders in Group, Life, Funds Management, and our Business Partnerships in the delivery of various projects under the Financial Control umbrella.
As Finance Manager, Projects you'll focus on providing advice, support, and implementation for specific business project initiatives, as well as owning the finance system maintenance and improvement processes for broader finance.
Your role will be varied and will require an agile approach - being able to work across multiple streams, with differing priorities and initiatives. Drawing on your strong financial acumen, business partnering and technical accounting experience some of the things you will be responsible for are:

Equally as a senior finance resource in a collaborative team, you'll also provide support as required to both Group and Life Financial Control teams during peak reporting periods, such as interim and year end as well as;
About the Team
Group Financial Control is a team working towards the common goal of delivering accurate, timely and complete Group statutory results and partnering with the broader business as required for BAU and ad hoc items such as M&A and Project work.
You'll be joining a tight knit, cohesive and collaborative team, who are passionate about supporting each other and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in everything they do.
The wider finance team includes Group Financial Control, Business Performance, Tax, Actuarial, teams operate in a highly interactive and collaborative manner.
The Skills & Experience we need.
The successful candidate will be organised, dynamic, a strong communicator and an accounting all-rounder who can assist team members during peak reporting periods, maintain key finance systems and own a varied portfolio of project work.
You'll need to have excellent technical accounting knowledge with 5+ years post qualification (CA/CPA or equivalent accounting qualification) experience in a senior accounting capacity ideally from within financial services. As well as
It's a bonus if you also have specific experience with Workday and Workiva and a sound understanding of investment management industry and products.

- Due to an internal promotion, we have a key role in our Group Financial Control team - you will be our "go-to" Finance SME for all things Projects & Systems

About the Role

Projects
- Supporting the deconsolidation process following the sale of the Bank division
- Designing, implementing, and managing the setup and accounting architecture of Challenger's joint venture arrangements, including but not limited to researching applicable accounting standards, designing operational and reporting accounting process for the new ventures, testing of systems, and training team members, as well as developing the month end processes for these ventures.
Business Partnering
- Working collaboratively with project managers and other stakeholders to facilitate execution of significant group projects.
- Being an advocate for Group Financial Control, fostering collaboration and alignment to team objectives between Group Finance and the wider Finance team, including divisional financial control, business performance and tax teams.
Finance Systems
- Own the Financial Control remit of the Workday and Workiva finance systems, including but not limited to maintenance activities such as year-end ledger roll, FX overlay, setting up allocations, consolidation rules, hierarchy and structure set up.
- Know and own the system well in order to be a guide for the wider financial control team.
- Work closely with HR, Tax, Business Performance, and other wider support teams to implement and manage accounting and reporting hierarchies for new joint ventures.
- Proactively identifying opportunities for efficiencies and simplification.
Equally as a senior finance resource in a collaborative team, you'll also provide support as required to both Group and Life Financial Control teams during peak reporting periods, such as interim and year end as well as;
- Assisting with the production of the Group Annual Report and Group Interim Report and the relevant disclosures for release on the ASX, including collaborating with Investor Relations, Business Performance, and the CFO.
- Preparing and presenting ad-hoc reporting and analysis as required by the broader business.
- Provide accounting support where required to Strategy and Corporate Development teams during M&A activity.
- Assist in preparation of technical accounting papers for presentation to the Board and senior leadership as required.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills - you'll have experience in researching the accounting and financial process aspects of a pipeline of incoming business projects and be able to explain and convey accounting implications with clarity to a broad audience of stakeholders from finance and non-finance backgrounds.
- Experience in Group consolidation, including complex intercompany relationships.
- Ability to manage end-to-end reporting processes, understanding transactions from their initial entry to the result.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and common reporting software products
