THE ROLE

Supports the MFS Asia ex-Japan distribution team on sales, relationship management and client service activities for institutional and retail businesses in Asia ex-Japan region. Based in Singapore, this position will support the sales process from start to finish with occasional client interface and travel. Serves as single point of contact for smaller clients.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Work with primary relationship managers as their backup relationship manager for clients in all aspects of relationship management. Assist primary relationship managers in maintaining, communicating and servicing the clients. Communicate feedback on all clients' needs, concerns and overall satisfaction back to MFS, help to solve problems and deal with issues with clients, maintain frequent contact through in-person, virtual, written and verbal communication. Organize, prepare and participate in portfolio review meetings. This will include preparing the background information, organizing internal preparatory conference calls, taking notes during meetings and attending to post-meeting follow ups.
  • Provide similar services to relevant client consultants, as necessary.
  • Act as one of the primary relationship contacts for smaller clients for a start. Client coverage will expand to include the bigger clients as time passes.
  • Assist the Sale/RM team in carrying out sales and marketing activities in the region.
  • This may entail making cold calls to introduce MFS's services to institutional prospects or to cross sell new products to existing clients.
  • May be assigned a market segment to cover and eventually this position should evolve into a full fledge Sales/RM position responsible for a certain market segment or country.
  • Work with and assist primary Sales/RM team in servicing global retail business partners in Asia in supporting our mutual fund business.
  • Arrange, prepare and attend meetings with business partners in Asia in an effort to grow the business.
  • Assist with respond to queries and requests from clients and business partners, provide performance data / fact sheets / product information and presentation materials to clients and prospects, arrange for presentations, co- ordinate transactions and follow-up.
  • Work with retail teams in other regions like London and Boston in servicing such retail business partners.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • Bachelor's degree . MBA or CFA will be an added advantage though not a pre-requisite.
  • Minimum 6 to 8 years of work experience in the financial market or in fund management industry, retail mutual fund or institutional business.
  • Good salesmanship. demonstrate consultative sales skills, opening the call, probing, offering solutions and closing the call.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation skills
  • Has good technical knowledge of financial instruments, preferably with a good understanding of the fixed income market
  • A self-starter with a high level of initiative.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with desire of developing client oriented relationships.
  • Highly organized with the ability to plan ahead.
  • Ability to adjust and cope with uneven/unpredictable work flows.
  • A strong team player.
  • Ability to read, write, communicate and present in Mandarin will be an advantage.
