Team / division overview

The DWS CAO Division comprises the AFC & Compliance, Client & Investment Monitoring, Corporate Governance, Human Resources (HR) and Legal departments.

As part of Client & Investment Monitoring, the Governance & Controls team supports all areas of the CAO Division worldwide. Among other things, the team is responsible for topics relating to financial planning, resource planning & management, business continuity management (BCM), strategic CAO projects, business management and the associated operational processes.

With this permanent position we are looking for a candidate to cover all aspects of Business Management for the Legal department, including, but not limited to, Third Party Risk Management process and project management for Legal, governance and oversight of the process for the Legal department, vendor oversight, cost reporting, maintaining of IGSAs and managing and overseeing a dedicated DWS Legal Operations function. The role will directly support the Head of Governance & Controls for CAO and the Leadership team of the Legal department.

Role Details

As a Senior Business Manager you will be responsible for:
  • Establishment and further development of a governance and policy framework for the DWS Legal department and continuous adaptation of the function to regulatory requirements;
  • General project management work as well as proactive problem analysis and development of proposed solutions to eliminate data, reporting and process gaps, including development of policies, procedures and KODs
  • Support of the Global COO and Head of Legal in all strategic matters in coordination with Finance, Tax, Compliance, HR and other central functions as well as experts from all parts of the DWS/DB Group
  • Coordinate and support the Legal department in all aspects of Records Management, systems, negotiable templates and support in putting in place engagement letters with non-panel law firms
  • Considering Resource Planning & Management, support the Legal department in all aspects of vendor management (DWS Third Party Risk Management (TPRM) and DB Vendor Risk Management (VRM))
  • DWS cost allocation overview of received services and downstream cost allocations, conducting cost reviews, reviewing KPIs and monitoring budget against actual spend
  • Management of systems used by the DWS Legal department in conjunction with IT and business line users
  • Lead the Team Lead DWS Legal Operations who oversees the Legal Operations team (to be implemented)
  • Implement and oversee the DWS Legal Operations function that is responsible for management and handling of invoice processing and legal cost reporting for legal matters in conjunction with the lawyers, including accrual processing. This also includes engagement with Outside Counsel firms or the Outside Counsel Management in DB on these topics.
We are looking for
  • University degree/University of Applied Sciences degree; Alternatively, completed commercial training with appropriate further training (banking business administration, MBA, CFA, etc.)
  • Multiple years of experience in Business Management, highly desirable if for a Legal department or in a reputable law firm
  • General experience within the asset management industry and an understanding of the asset management value chain as well as the different functions and responsibilities would be an advantage
  • Good knowledge of investment products of the DWS business areas would be an advantage
  • Profound experience in project management and change management; Experience and knowledge of agile working methods would be an advantage
  • Strong communication skills in English (ideally German) as well as the ability to work together across departments
  • Confident handling and coordination of requirements in a global team
  • Strong analytical skills, as well as the ability to communicate challenging issues to different stakeholders to develop suitable solutions
  • Empathy in dealing with others as well as the preservation and balancing of different interests in the context of service provision
  • Self-driven for personal development and independent way of working

Rollenbeschreibung

Als Senior Business Manager werden Sie folgende Themen verantworten:
  • Aufbau und Weiterentwicklung eines Governance- und Policy-Rahmens für die DWS-Rechtsabteilung und kontinuierliche Anpassung der Plattform an regulatorische Anforderungen
  • Allgemeine Projektmanagementtätigkeiten, sowie proaktive Problemanalyse und Entwicklung von Lösungsvorschlägen zur Beseitigung von Daten-, Berichts- und Prozesslücken, einschließlich der Entwicklung von Richtlinien, Verfahren und KODs
  • Unterstützung des Global COO und Head of Legal in allen strategischen Belangen, Koordination mit Finance, Tax, Compliance, HR und anderen Zentralfunktionen sowie Experten aus allen Teilen der DWS/DB-Gruppe
  • Koordination und Unterstützung der Rechtsabteilung rund um Records Management, Systeme, verhandelbare Vertragsvorlagen und Unterstützung bei der Erstellung von Auftragsschreiben mit Nicht-Panel-Rechtsfirmen
  • Im Rahmen von Resource Planning & Management; Unterstützung der Rechtsabteilung in allen Aspekten des Vendorenmanagements (DWS Third Party Risk Management (TPRM) und DB Vendor Risk Management (VRM)=
  • Übersicht zu Verrechnungskosten für erhaltene Dienstleistungen und nachgelagerte Kostenzuordnungen, Durchführung von Kostenanalysen, Überprüfung von KPIs und Überwachung des Budgets im Vergleich zu den tatsächlichen Ausgaben
  • Verwaltung der von der DWS-Rechtsabteilung verwendeten Systeme in Zusammenarbeit mit IT- und Legal-Anwendern
  • Leitung des Teamleiters DWS Legal Operations, der das Legal Operations Team überwacht (noch umzusetzen)
  • Implementierung und Überwachung der DWS Legal Operations-Funktion, die für die Verwaltung und Bearbeitung von Rechtsangelegenheiten in Zusammenarbeit mit den Anwälten sowie für alle Aspekte der jeweiligen Rechnungsstellungs- oder Abgrenzungsprozesse verantwortlich ist. Dazu gehört auch die Zusammenarbeit mit externen Kanzleien oder dem Outside Counsel Management der DB zu diesen Themen.
Wir suchen
  • Hochschulabschluss/Fachhochschulabschluss; Alternativ eine abgeschlossene kaufmännische Ausbildung mit entsprechender Weiterbildung (Bankbetriebswirt, MBA, CFA etc.)
  • Mehrjährige Erfahrung im Business Management, idealerweise in einer Rechtsabteilung
  • Berufserfahrung in der Asset-Management-Branche und ein gutes Verständnis der Asset-Management-Wertschöpfungskette sowie der verschiedenen Funktionen und Verantwortlichkeiten
  • Gute Kenntnisse der Anlageprodukte der DWS-Geschäftsbereiche von Vorteil
  • Fundierte Erfahrung im Projektmanagement und Change Management; Erfahrungen und Kenntnisse agiler Arbeitsmethoden wären von Vorteil
  • Starke Kommunikationsfähigkeiten in Englisch und idealerweise Deutsch sowie die Fähigkeit zur abteilungsübergreifenden Zusammenarbeit
  • Sicherer Umgang und Koordination der Anforderungen in einem globalen Team
  • Starke analytische Fähigkeiten sowie die Fähigkeit, herausfordernde Probleme an verschiedene Stakeholder zu kommunizieren, um geeignete Lösungen zu entwickeln
  • Empathie im Umgang mit anderen sowie Wahrung und Ausgleich unterschiedlicher Interessen im Rahmen der Leistungserbringung
