The Team:

The Global Intelligence and Analytics (GIA) consulting team supports our customers with a horizonal view of the geographies, sectors, and environments that shape the world in which they, their suppliers, and their customers operate. Our consultants design unique solutions using unparalleled data and insight spanning economics and industry, supply chain and logistics, geopolitics, and risk intelligence. We integrate these three practice areas through custom models, scenarios, indices, and analysis systems to inform critical decisions across a diverse range of workflows and sectors.

The Impact:

This role presents an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of shaping our customers' strategies and planning. The successful candidate will lead client engagements, developing technical and strategic solutions together with fellow consultants, best-in-class researchers, subject matter experts, and data and analytics teams. The project work will focus on analyzing policy issues- specifically trade and FTA policies, trade economics, direct investment flows, economic impact, and scenario analysis.

The Middle East is our fastest growing region with the most diverse client set, spanning government ministries, industrial/manufacturing, energy, technology, and mining firms, to name a few. Increasingly the Middle East is also characterized by countries in transition, moving from an extensive focus on petroleum and related products into more open and diversified economies, more reliant upon trade in merchandise and services. Our client's partner with us for insight and expertise to help shape their global trade relationships, trade and FTA policies and opportunities, macro/microeconomic reform initiatives; to support growth strategies, identify operating risks, and communicate the economic and social impact of these initiatives to their stakeholders.

What's in it for you:

  • Engage with senior client leaders, from senior government policy makers to senior corporate executives and budget owners, helping to share and guide policy making and senior level decision making
  • Opportunity to manage large scale projects, shape the solution and lead in delivering the work, in collaboration with a world class team of experts and an unparalleled breadth of proprietary models and data from across the S&P Global enterprise. The EMEA consulting group is unique in having consultants from all our practice areas (economics, risk, trade, and supply chain); as part of this team, you will have development opportunities by working on projects across all our capability areas and sectors, and supported by our global team of colleagues
  • You will be part of a team and environment that fosters creativity and innovation, encouraging you to bring new ideas and methodological approaches
  • Project management including an internal, and more importantly external, leadership role
  • Conceptualizing our technical approach and methods and communicating this in presentations, proposals and pitches to clients and prospective clients
  • Conducting in-depth economic analysis, socio-economic impact assessments, and macro/microeconomic scenario research in the context of alternative trade relationships and economic transformation
  • Conducting and supporting econometric modeling and forecasting
  • Present methodological process and project findings to clients, lead analysis and reporting of insights, and provide technical support tailored to client needs and expectations
  • Provide support to our commercial team in building a pipeline of business in the region focused on economic analysis including development, planning, scenarios and impact analysis
What We're Looking For:
  • PhD or master's degree minimum in Economics, with 10 years of work experience, preferably with prior consultancy and/or public policy experience
  • Deep expertise and preferably experience of trade negotiations, trade agreements and trade policy formulation, economic development and planning, exposure to macroeconomic modeling and research, economic impact, and scenario (what-if) analysis
