The role encompasses and has the following principal responsibilities:
The HSBC Innovation Banking Early-Stage Business practice has rapidly grown in recent years and to support this growth we are looking for a VP I, Relationship Manager with a Health Tech sector focus to join the team in London. This is an exciting opportunity to work, as a commercial banker and ecosystem participant, with some of the most innovative early-stage (Seed to Series A) companies in Europe who are playing a key role in improving healthcare outcomes globally.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Collaborating closely with the SVP Healthcare & Life Sciences and reporting to the Director, Head of Portfolio Management Early Stage Banking, the successful candidate will build effective internal networks with multiple teams across the bank. The candidate will work alongside the Relationship Advisors, Product Advisors, Compliance and internal operations to provide a streamlined banking experience for the client.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Managing and developing the strategic banking relationship of a portfolio of early-stage health tech, medical devices and diagnostic companies at different growth stages (accelerator-level, seed, seed+ and Series A).
- Cross-selling HSBC INNOVATION BANK UK's platform and products to address and where possible, anticipate, client business needs with the support of an Associate. Collaborating with the wider HSBC group to drive value and growth.
- Growing the portfolio and HSBC INNOVATION BANK's Seed & Series A market share by performing pro-active origination of new clients and by developing meaningful ecosystem relationships with companies, accelerators, VCs, Fractional CFOs and other innovators in the health tech community.
- Building and maintaining strong alignment and collaborations among different internal cross-functional teams (Relationship Management, Early-Stage Ecosystem Coverage & Strategic Partnerships, Global Treasury, Financial Crime Risk and Controls) to optimize the client experience.
- Keeping abreast of market, sector and competitive trends, developing and delivering insights to clients as well as to the wide HSBC innovation banking team.
- Supporting the bank's brand by representing the product suite and key capabilities in the market and during healthcare-focused industry events/conferences.

Requirements
- Proven experience in a commercial role, working with/for Health Tech, Medical Devices, Diagnostics companies operating within the venture capital backed/start-up ecosystem
- Passionate about healthcare and technology with strong sector knowledge (founder/entrepreneurial experience, PhD/MD experience, VC/PE experience all highly desirable and a plus).
- Strong/proven personal network within the Healthcare start-up, accelerators, venture capital & innovation sectors.
- Excellent client servicing experience & client origination skills to run, build and expand a high-quality client portfolio. Ideally, experience with company evaluation/due diligence. A consistent track record of delivering results.
- Strong Team Player focused on the success of the team and the wider organisation.
- The ideal candidate must have an entrepreneurial and collaborative approach coupled with a business development/financial mindset (strong numerical/analytical experience a plus)
- Ideal but not mandatory: Previous Banking Experience and knowledge of Commercial banking products with a focus on healthcare/health tech companies
