Product Control team at Jefferies International Limited

Role:

This role is for an Associate within the Product Control team at Jefferies International Limited (JIL) covering the European based businesses.

The role will also entail working closely with our offshore team to ensure high standards are maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

Daily Production tasks including
  • Formal PL production (including FOBO Review / Flash vs Actual analysis / PL Explain)
  • Daily Inventory Reporting
  • Daily Reporting & Analysis of Firm Balance Sheet
  • T0 Reporting across Trading/ Banking Divisions


Month End work including
  • Balance Sheet substantiation
  • Reconciliation of reported PL to ledger
  • Assistance to IPV process
  • Netting Balance sheet items in accordance with policy guidance
  • Working with and across other groups to resolve breaks/exceptions in a timely manner
  • Analytical Review & Commentary (PL and BS)
  • Contribution to month end reporting packs and stakeholder MI requests


Additional responsibilities
  • Improve and challenge existing controls and processes
  • Involvement in new business approval process
  • Provide cover for wider Controllers Team
  • Ad hoc project work


Person Specification:
  • Part qualified/qualified in the accounting field
  • Prior finance/product control experience preferred
  • Understanding of the key components of a bank's balance sheet / P&L
  • Strong Excel knowledge, VBA skills are preferable
  • Ability to write and present commentary pertaining to business area(s) supported
  • High attention to detail with a control focused mindset and awareness of when to escalate issues
  • Team player
  • Able to prioritise workload to achieve daily targets
  • Uses initiative to identify issues and implement solutions
  • Ability to automate and rationalise process as necessary
  • This role will be based on site in London and successful candidate will be expected to build relationships with the front office, COO teams, middle office and risk. A mindset of continually reassessing and building upon the existing control environment will be crucial to success.
