Role Context:
The MGG Risk function is responsible for effectively advising and challenging key stakeholders, challenging risks effectively and proactively, and adding value through providing enhanced business insights to ensure that risk is managed in line with the expectations of clients, shareholders and regulators, and to support the delivery of customers' long-term needs.

Operational Risk maintains the overall Operational Risk Framework, leads, co-ordinates and manages a range of risk management processes including overall risk reporting. The Investments & Investment Operations Oversight Manager reports to the Head of Non-Financial Risk, Asset Management. The roles leads on the operational risk oversight for the Investments and Investment Operations Business Areas.

The role holder will be responsible for the oversight and guidance of operational risk matters across the Asset Management business and will represent Operational Risk at relevant senior executive and management level committees as directed by the Head of NFR, Asset Management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance to the people policies, Group Code of Conduct and embedding desired behaviours
  • Be personally accountable for identifying, assessing, managing and reporting risks within your area of responsibility, including supporting formal risk management activities e.g. Risk & Control Self Assessments and timely closure of Assurance actions
  • Lead on the operational risk engagement with the Business Area on all operational risk matters and bring specialists in as required, including oversight of Business Area outsourcing partners.
  • Represent Operational Risk at Business Area specific governance committees, risk forums or team meetings and provide risk business partnering approach.
  • Lead on the oversight and guidance of Business Area implementation of Operational Risk Framework including workshop facilitation - e.g. RCSA, Notifiable Events, Risk Appetite (Tolerances, Limits and Triggers) and Scenarios.
  • Development and maintenance of a relationship between the first line and Operational Risk that is positive, respectful and constructive including oversight of risk culture embeddedness.
  • Lead on the delivery of Business Area specific Operational Risk training
  • Lead, review and challenge of Business Area led root cause analysis.
  • Oversight and guidance of major Business Area specific change management programmes.
  • Manage and support the Senior Risk Analysts ensuring appropriate deployment, development and support.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
  • Significant knowledge of both front office and operations functions within the asset management industry (essential)
  • Significant knowledge of asset classes including Fixed Income, FX, Equities, Private Asset and Real Estate (desired)
  • Knowledge of key regulatory frameworks impacting the relevant business area e.g. MiFID and Best Execution Rules (desired)
  • Strong presentation skills to senior level boards and committees with the ability to explain and articulate asset management concepts (essential).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (essential).
  • Ability to lead the team and work colloboratively with other teams across the three lines of defence (essential).
  • Significant experience of working with both front office and operations functions within the asset management industry (essential)
  • Significant operational risk experience working across asset classes including Fixed Income, FX, Equities, Private Asset and Real Estate (desired)
  • Significant experience working with Executive Level stakeholders and presenting to board level committees (essential)
  • Significant experience in operational risk oversight including the embedding of an operational risk framework in the first line of defence (desired)
