INVESTMENT OPERATIONS OUTSOURCING : OPERATIONS MANAGER - MARKET OPERATIONS, Pune
Northern Trust is Looking for a Ops Manager - Market Operations in India to manage the continued growth and responsibilities being carried out to support the service and operational delivery needs for the Investment Operations Outsourcing (IOO) clients globally. The role requires an in-depth understanding of the capital market, different financial instruments and their processing requirements. Should have a good understanding of financial markets, the regulations that govern them. Should have proven leadership experience in motivating, leading and managing large teams. Knowledge of business strategy development is necessary to provide long term planning and to manage the profitability/performance of a major business segment
Qualifications - External
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Effective communication to key relationship stakeholders; • Lead, and take staffing decisions, including performance management and administration • Take a lead role in transition planning and execution • Participate in and understand IOO's long term global strategy to effectively support the growth • Oversee the financial and staff resources, including developing and managing expense budgets, and ensuring that resources are available to accomplish the objectives set for the area; • Assume full accountability for the performance/profitability of the area as compared to the plan; • To bring in best practice into the team in all areas and leverage external relationships • Act as a subject area expert, develop and maintain specific subject expertise within the team. • Understand in-depth the inherent risk within key procedures, and partner with Risk Management, Control and Audit team, in assessing and managing the efficacy of the control structure. • Display a balanced, cross-functional perspective, liaising with the business to improve efficiency, effectiveness and productivity
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
• Relevant experience of about 12-15 years in the financial securities industry of which, operations experience of at least 6-8 years in supervising teams with managerial responsibilities. Trade Support - Confirmations and Settlements experience would be an added advantage
• High level of understanding of different financial products, financial markets and regulations that govern them.
• Relevant computer literacy ( and especially Excel and Powerpoint ).
• Excellent communication skills.
• Effective coaching/ training skills.
• Client service orientation, quality focus, organisation and planning skills • Resiliency and effective change management skills
Key skills and experience:
• Opening the new accounts on behalf of the Investment Managers and ensure all the static set ups are in place before the account goes live with shared services teams (within NT), Custodians/ Agents, IOO Book of records, other internal applications, Interested third parties (if any)
• Work closely with the custodians/ agents to ensure all the required documentation from regulatory or exchange's stand point is in place at the custody level to open the required depot, nostro accounts, set up the Tax IDs, Depository participants, and market identifiers beforehand.
• Work closely with the custodians to have the Standing Instructions (SIs) & Standard settlement instructions (SSIs) in place and perform the periodic audits for the same.
• Assist Investment Managers to perform the inter-portfolio/ inter-depot (custody) movements in order to facilitate the client's investment strategies.
• Involvement in performing quality checks and internal audits as per requirement
• Candidate should have a strong understanding of various processes on trade life cycle, knowledge of the industry and an understanding of how new institutional and NAV driven accounts are setup and onboarded
SHIFT:
Role will be supporting North America team and thus the shift login time will be 6:30pm/7:30 pm IST
