Investment Analyst Intermediate Salary Range: $97,822 - $126,094 / annually
Investment Analyst Senior Salary Range: $132,003 - $177,918 / annually
Telework Eligible: SBI currently utilizes a hybrid model, with a minimum of two anchor days in office per week. This is subject to change at the discretion of the SBI Executive Director.
About the SBI:
The Minnesota State Board of Investment (SBI) develops and implements investment policies and strategies for the state’s retirement funds, trust funds, and cash accounts. The statutory mission of the SBI is “to ensure that state and pension asset subject to this legislation will be responsibly invested to maximize the total rate of return without incurring undue risk” (Minnesota Statute 11A.01).
As of June 30, 2023, the SBI was responsible for the management of assets totaling ~$134.7 Billion.
About the Opportunity:
The Investment Analyst will assist with the monitoring and management of the defined contribution and non-pension assets and will conduct due diligence used in hiring and monitoring investment managers, evaluate investment fund performance, and contribute to reporting efforts to SBI’s clients. The incumbent will work with other investment staff across the SBI team.
Qualifications:
Investment Analyst Intermediate Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 1+ years professional experience at a financial services firm, or equivalent
- Strong attention to detail and emphasis on producing a high-quality work product.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Demonstrated interest in business fundamentals, capital markets and investment strategies.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in written form with a wide variety of professionals and various levels of an organization.
- Willing participation in and desire to make continuous progress toward completion of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program.
- A desire to learn and a proactive attitude.
Investment Analyst Senior Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 3+ years professional experience at a financial services firm, or equivalent
- Strong attention to detail and emphasis on producing a high-quality work product.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Demonstrated interest in business fundamentals, capital markets and investment strategies.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in written form with a wide variety of professionals and various levels of an organization.
- Willing participation in and desire to make continuous progress toward completion of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program.
- A desire to learn and a proactive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications –
- Experience working with an asset allocator such as a public or corporate plan sponsor, endowment, or foundation.
- Familiarity with investment vehicles, broad asset class objectives, an understanding of financial markets.
- Familiarity with investment related analytical tools and software or the ability to learn platforms such as Factset, Bloomberg, and Morningstar.
- The ability to prepare reports reflecting performance and analytics for portfolios.
- Proficient in utilizing data and information management systems and processes using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
