CME's Technology Summer Internship program offers students opportunities to learn more about CME's business, our role in the financial industry, and the types of technology that keeps our markets running. In the past, our interns have worked on building cloud infrastructure, researching blockchain technologies, and taking ownership of new applications that can change the trading lifecycle. We are focused on designing, building and deploying customer focused solutions with passion and precision. Some areas of work may be:
  • Application Development
  • System Design
  • Research and Proof of Concepts
  • DevOps and Cloud Migration
  • Automation
  • Google Cloud Transformation Work
  • Financial Engineering
  • Data Analysis
  • Protoyping of Internal Tools

Required qualities for all team members:
  • Dynamic self-starting individuals who will proactively contribute to the efforts and needs of the team
  • Interested in a broad range of topics and willing to assist teammates on work that may be considered outside of their role
  • Ready to learn new skills when the task at hand requires it
  • Consistently demonstrates positive energy and strong work ethic
  • Produce clear and detailed written documentation; Including presentation/slide decks
  • Sustain transparency and knowledge sharing by maintaining informational resources on the project wiki

Minimum qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
  • Studying Computer Science or a related field
  • Experience writing code in Java, Python, or C++
  • A passion for problem solving

Bonus qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Java/Python
  • Previous technical or financial experience
  • Experience with UNIX/Linux
  • Web development experience using Java Script / HTML, REST APIs web services
  • Experience with JavaScript, SQL, or R
  • Experience with Google Cloud

This internship does require the ability to successfully work in a hybrid environment with customers that are remote. Individuals are expected to be in the Innovation Center most days. There is some travel to the Chicago Office expected/included. The internship is 12 weeks and will likely run Wednesday, May 24 - Wednesday, August 9th.
