Research Analyst

Legion Partners is a small and mid-cap focused activist fund, we run a concentrated long-only portfolio supported by deep fundamental analysis.  We are in the process of adding to our team and seeking a highly motivated and team-oriented research professional to join us.  Research projects are long-term oriented and involve all aspects of financial, strategic, operational, and ESG characteristics of North American public companies.

This position will conduct deep fundamental research as an integral part of Legion Partners’ research team, and will be expected to take a lead role from early stages of the research process through the life of the project.  The analyst will be responsible for building detailed financial models and establishing valuation estimates using multiple methodologies.

Reports directly to the Managing Directors and provides support in all aspects of the research process, including sourcing, due diligence, modeling, investment presentations, monitoring, and reporting.

General Qualifications

Four year degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field

Post graduate degree a plus

CFA Designation highly desired

5+ years of experience in investment research/portfolio management

Prior experience in investment banking / private equity

Proven modeling experience

Primary experience in long-oriented equity research and analysis

Proficient with Excel, Word, and Power Point

Familiar with financial information systems (such as Capital IQ)

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

Proven ability to work in a team environment

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

Ability and willingness to travel
