Responsibilities:

This position requires a highly organised and flexible individual, comfortable with the rigours of operating in a fast-paced environment, managing a consistently high volume of work across an international portfolio.
  • Reviewing, developing and improving the organisation's safety management policy and procedures and overseeing their implementation to comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, implement and review the organisation's Health and Safety Policies and procedures/guidance.
  • Create, drive and own Health, Safety and Environmental projects from inception to completion
  • Ensure suitable risk assessments (RA) are in place and SSOW are adhered to by staff and contractors operating onsite.
  • Work with the HR department to identify PEEPS and offer relevant reasonable adjustments.
  • Manage the DSE process from end-end, including all operational elements (RA's, actions) and supplier management. Create implementation plan for DSE software across International offices as required.
  • Ensure that Risk Assessments and Method Statements are provided by 3rd parties where required
  • Act on all risk assessment actions to ensure timely completion
  • Develop and implement Environmental Management systems and plans to ensure we operate in accordance with local legislation. This may include evaluating the possibility of the organisation seeking a recognised accreditation.
  • Conduct impact assessments to assess and reduce the firm's environmental risks and associated costs and guide on sustainable ways of working.
  • Support on the management and completion of SECR, ESOS and other sustainability assessments, as relevant.
  • Engage with external parties where necessary to provide advice and relevant support to the firm in relation to any changes (including recommended changes) in legislation. Incorporate any changes into relevant policies and procedures and ensure relevant training and/or other support is put in place.
  • Delivering reporting requirements, including MI HSE info, accidents and incidents (including near misses), RIDDORS. Driving reporting requirements and investigation downstream from vendors/contractors where necessary.
  • Deliver internal training where appropriate. Advise on and facilitate any specialist H&S training.
  • Participate in fire safety responsibilities and ensure core activities are in place via the facilities team.
  • Review and fulfil Fire Risk Assessment requirements across our sites as necessary via 3rd parties.
  • Respond to day-to-day health and safety issues as required.
  • Ensure all site procedures and standards are upheld as pertaining to HSE and conduct site inspections and audits to this effect.
  • Liaise with and co-ordinate the work of external specialist advisers and ensure they deliver against the required brief and offer the firm value for money.
  • In all areas of work, actively model and promote a safety culture and proactive environmental sustainability
  • Escalate any issues that may impact the HSE agenda to management in a timely fashion.
  • Such other duties as may be required from time to time

Other:
  • Liaise with the client drafting relevant communications for the business
  • Create, deliver and maintain relevant training modules to necessary personnel as required
  • Work closely with the client in the identification of external advisory requirements, the process in terms of selection and appointment. Review and confirm the subsequent contract and requirements remain relevant (annually) and ensure the service delivery is in line with the contract etc.
  • Use all client site operating systems in accordance with guidelines
  • Manage the shared H&S mailbox
  • Manage the creation, collation and analysis of statistics as required, providing essential reports and Management Information as required by the client, to include a minimum monthly report, Quarterly MI report, ad-hoc updates to the compliance tracker, regular updates on the accidents and incidents
  • Collect required data for the statutory ESG reporting as per the requirement in each country
  • Ensure that all PPM, reactive and project works are within the agreed contract arrangements, delivered to consistent and common processes and methodologies and are fully compliant with statutory and HSE requirements
  • Provide the company with updates on the latest HSE developments
  • Provide the company with innovations, best market practice and ways to increase HSE performance
  • To maintain the necessary confidentiality on all client matters
  • To maintain a professional appearance

Skills & Requirements:
  • Minimum 5+ years of corporate health and safety experience
  • NEBOSH qualified
  • Health, Safety and Environment Policy and Procedures creation
  • Knowledge of key operational procedures, e.g., project road maps, planned maintenance systems, Quality and Health & Safety.
  • Demonstrable ability to manage multiple high-level, time-sensitive projects simultaneously with superb attention to detail
  • Ability to work on own initiative and operationally as part of a team
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment • An understanding of the corporate sector
  • Proactively planning schedules and itineraries to consider multi-time zones, conflicting calendars
  • Advanced-level skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel • Use of DSE related software/tools is a plus
  • Professional qualifications & memberships
  • Degree Qualified or job holder to be educated to at least HNC, NVQ level 4 or equivalent full technical standard. Ideally hold a recognised qualification in project management.
