About the Role
The Institutional Equity Division ("IED") Business Control Unit ("BCU") team is looking for an Associate to support its first line risk management functions, primarily focused on the implementation and effectiveness of the Firm's information security program, system entitlements program, and non-market risk governance and management framework within the Business Unit ("BU"). Non-market risk governance and management themes include Operational Risk, Conduct Risk, Regulatory Risk, Technology Risk, Franchise Risk, etc. The team seeks to ensure Front Office compliance with all applicable rules and regulations governing the firm, as well as adherence to internal standards, controls, and policies in line with the Firm's risk appetite.
The team fulfills a front office advisory role as the first line of defense and hence requires close collaboration with stakeholders of varying seniority across a wide range of teams in the Front Office and Infrastructure Groups. The scope includes control and risk governance ownership, escalation, oversight, incident management, division-wide audit and regulatory examinations, project execution such as new business/process initiatives, as well as business continuity planning.

Key Responsibilities
- Analyse, implement, and review system entitlements to ensure segregation of duty and access is appropriately permissioned on the respective personnel responsibilities
- Identify, analyse, and execute BU-specific information security requirements and timely resolve any queries/issues/exception requests in partnership with other business stakeholders
- Lead information security related programs, including processes and procedures in adherence with the Firm global policy
- Perform business unit operational risk monitoring and remediation processes, including but not limited to RECAP (Incident Management Tool) entries management, which entails actively identifying and remediating operational risks in business lifecycle and front to back processes
- Support regulatory enquiries/inspection, internal audits, and compliance testing that impact the Division
- Assess and coordinate new business initiatives, including creating and building governance processes and procedures that are sustainable and scalable
- Review, initiate, and facilitate policy or procedure updates, general process enhancements, etc.
- Assist, educate, and guide Front Office personnel in application of the risk control framework, including training personnel on adherence to risk management policies and procedures to ensure globally alignment and consistency
- Promote and advocate risk ownership in terms of awareness and mindset, and an open, transparent, and honest risk culture across the Division

- At least 3+ years of practical risk management experience in Financial Services, specifically Institutional Securities in control/risk functional areas such as information security, data management, technology risk, operational risk, or its equivalent
- Strong communicator (in both verbal and written form) who is adaptable to the needs of various audience and stakeholders
- Independent learner who is coachable, accountable, and resourceful with strong attention to detail and analytical skills to break down complex issues into simple achievable tasks for resolution
- Relationship builder with interpersonal skills to partner across functional teams and influence others not in direct span of control to create or restructure business practices and controls that enhance day to day operations
- Proven track record and solid work ethic with strong principles that form sound judgement
- Experience having worked in a high pressure, delivery focused environment with accuracy
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, especially on Excel skills is necessary
- Background in data analysis and broad understanding of process flows and systems/ technology connectivity are strongly preferred
- Experience in project management to navigate competing priorities and deliver on project commitments is advantageous
- Knowledge of Institutional Sales and Trading products such as cash equities, swaps, derivatives and bonds, is advantageous
