About this role

About this role:

Your team:

The global Corporate Communications team at BlackRock is responsible for internal and external communications efforts that advance BlackRock's purpose of helping more and more people experience financial well-being. We work to develop compelling communications programs that enhance the firm's culture, drive growth, strengthen our reputation and build our brand.

Job description:
The Internal Communications Associate, based in New York, will help drive BlackRock's Corporate Communications efforts to deliver engaging content on the firm's priorities, including what makes BlackRock a great place to work, why our businesses are successful, and how we make a difference through our mission-driven purpose. This role involves creating engaging content to promote across a variety of channels and managing key initiatives to evolve the internal communications strategy and program at BlackRock.

What will you be doing?
  • Project manage internal campaigns and initiatives by gathering requirements, developing communications strategies and plans, crafting content and coordinating distribution of communications.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to plan and execute various firmwide events, including global town halls, monthly Managing Director and Director meetings, and others as scheduled.
  • Contribute to a compelling, employee-focused and business-oriented editorial strategy by developing and/or editing engaging content.
  • Prepare content to be published or distributed via multiple channels (e.g., intranet, firmwide email, digital signage) - proof, format and tag articles and memos, select appropriate images or visual assets, and secure approvals, while ensuring quality and consistency standards.
  • Think laterally about innovative and stakeholder-centric ways to deliver engaging content through all communications channels - internally, via social media and other digital properties.
  • Track how content performs across internal channels to understand possibilities for increasing audience and engagement.
  • Manage reactive requests with urgency and accuracy.
  • Develop a deep knowledge of BlackRock's business and value propositions for employees, clients and investors.
  • Develop strong working relationships with corporate communications team members in the Americas, EMEA and APAC to create operational synergies.
What are we looking for?
  • Bachelor's degree, plus 2+ years of corporate communications, agency/consultancy, journalism, HR and/or marketing experience.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, particularly when it comes to conversations with team members, business partners and content creators.
  • Exceptional writing and editing abilities, including spelling and grammar skills, with an exceptional eye for detail.
  • Innovative approach to content types - thinking beyond the written word to consider visual, video, audio, in-person experiences and more as possible channels.
  • Creative, results-oriented problem-solver with ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with resilience, intellectual curiosity and flexibility.
  • Analytical thinking and ability to integrate input from multiple stakeholders while working to deadlines.
  • Proven ability to synthesize complex materials and to craft creative, persuasive content for a global audience.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with aptitude for managing simultaneous projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment.
  • An energetic team player and driven self-starter, with a positive mindset and excellent work ethic.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, both within the global communications team and the wider business.
  • Proficient Microsoft Office Suite and Excel skills; advanced skills a plus.
Desired experience, not essential
  • Experience with communications tools (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Poppulo).
  • Knowledge of industry-leading strategies and methodologies, including:
    • Effective storytelling and content development and management
    • Platform management and optimizing search
    • Employee engagement and change communications
    • Analytics and measurement
For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $109,250 - $130,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
