The Role:
Reporting to the Group Financial Controller and dotted-line reporting to the regulated Entity CFOs, the Wealth and Service Company Financial Controller will have the end-to-end ownership and accountability for delivering the financial results for the Wealth Business and Service Companies.

Key Work Level Accountabilities:

Integration Leader
  • Critical role in translating the financial reporting strategy into delivery and development plans.
  • Leader of the financial control and reporting teams (accountants and actuaries).
  • Sponsors a number of strategic transformation programmes impacting the global finance functions in areas such as new wealth product launch, accounting and regulatory change.


Accountable for:
  • Production and reporting of all metrics for all Wealth and Service Company entities (regulatory, local GAAP, IFRS, AOP, AUMA and flows, outturn/ forecast/ Business Plan)
  • Ensuring compliance of results, produced to high quality audit standard, with latest applicable accounting and actuarial standards and regulations and application of the plc's methodology
  • Wealth and Service Company entity ledgers, sub-ledgers and data stores accuracy, completeness and timeliness; including balance sheet attestations, definition of chart of accounts and controls
  • Ownership and production of balance sheets and analysis of surplus/ P&L attribution and commentaries for Wealth and Service Company entities
  • Production of any quarterly financial reporting results and associated MI to support entity CFOs
  • Providing strategic recommendations to enhance financial performance and support any tactical initiatives
  • Management and oversight of Wealth and Service Company Financial Controller team
  • Ensure that team members have appropriate skills, training and experience to perform their roles
  • Managing the costs and forecast of this team to deliver efficient as well as effective service globally

Risk, controls and governance responsibilities:
  • Accountable for ensuring internal controls are effective, compliant and timely with applicable standards and regulations including quarterly attestation of the RCSA and Internal Controls Framework ensuring effectiveness, timeliness and completeness
  • Accountable for defining and oversight of the application of the end to end control framework pertaining to the production of the entity balance sheets and P&L attributions
  • Posting and control over ledger postings including tax
  • Accountable for governance and controls of accounting and actuarial late adjustment processes and responsible for accounting overlays and management of manual journals including late adjustments
  • Responsible for audits of the regulated insurance entity results and accounts
  • Regulated insurance entity board and audit committee financial reporting production

Key Skills, Competencies & Experience:
  • An ability to interpret customer outcomes and financial information, to identify key issues based on this information and to put in place appropriate controls and measures to respond to business and regulatory requirements
  • An ability to identify, assess, monitor, control and mitigate financial risks to the insurance business unit and the Group
  • Experience of leading a finance function of a large, complex financial services/ insurance and/or asset management business
  • An ability to build and lead diverse and multi-skilled teams, to provide strategic direction and to manage performance effectively
  • Able to meet the expectations of the plc leadership model (inspire others, embrace change, deliver results and keep it simple)
  • An ability to assess the effectiveness of the arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight, risk management and a robust control environment across the finance function and the wider business
  • An awareness and understanding of the evolving regulatory framework in which the plc operates
  • High degree of honesty, integrity and discretion
  • Possess both a strong attention to detail and a "big picture" mind-set
  • Significant experience of handling conflict and navigating the politics of a FTSE firm
  • Ability to build strong relationships at all levels across the business, flex interpersonal style accordingly and influence others effectively
  • Track record in delivering transformational change to achieve timely, quality, control and cost outcomes in complex finance functions

Qualifications
  • Qualified accountant with significant post qualification experience.
