About this role
Team Overview
The Global Insurance Solutions team is a specialist, product agnostic investment strategy and structuring team which focuses on insurance clients and serves the entire BlackRock platform. A key component of the team's role is the development of the modelling and analytical capabilities required to serve our clients. We combine this with our insurance and investment capabilities to address the challenges our insurance clients face.
The team engages client businesses and portfolio managers across the whole firm to build innovative investment solutions and position BlackRock products for our insurance clients.

Our hybrid work model

Responsibilities
- Deploy a thorough knowledge of BlackRock's existing systems, tools and other capabilities to insurance investment modelling problems
- Contribute to the ongoing development of optimization models and tools to provide additional insight into the optimal construction of insurance portfolios and strategies, taking into account an insurer's specific requirements and constraints
- Maintain strong relationships with internal partners in the BlackRock Investment Institute, Financial Modelling Group and relevant investment teams to drive enhancements in analytical capabilities of relevance to insurers
- Undertake complex ALM, strategic asset allocation and capital management exercises to design portfolios and strategies that provide good trade-offs between capital charges, return, volatility, transaction costs and liquidity needs
- Keep abreast of the implications of regulatory, accounting and capital frameworks on investment and risk management decisions made by insurance companies
Knowledge/Experience :
- Prior industry experience, gained within an asset manager, investment bank, consultancy or insurance company is an advantage
- Broad understanding of modern financial mathematics (e.g. option pricing, hedging, stochastic processes, Monte Carlo simulation, interest-rate modelling)
- Practical experience of coding in Python, VBA or other programming languages
- Skills commensurate with holding an investment, risk management, actuarial or other technical role in a life assurance, reinsurance or banking environment would be advantageous
