What you'll do
As a Corporate Development Associate, you'll support on all aspects of inorganic strategy and transaction execution. You'll be providing support on deals of a variety of sizes and structures, leading on financial and value modelling, project management, and organising due diligence as well as evaluating the overall value of a transaction to the business, its benefits and potential risks, and presenting the values and options to senior colleagues.

The skills you'll need
We're looking for a driven individual with strong academic credentials and a desire to learn about M&A. Prior knowledge or experience of M&A and valuation techniques, and a relevant financial qualification such as CFA or ACA are beneficial but not essential.
You'll also demonstrate:
- You'll be part of a small team working in an exciting and fast paced environment on some of the most important projects for the Bank, advising on mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activity and providing in-house transaction advisory and execution services
- Your responsibilities will include supporting on formulation of inorganic strategy, transaction execution, strategic reviews of business areas, and other Corporate Finance related projects
- To facilitate this you'll work extensively with stakeholders both inside and outside the organisation, with the core objective of supporting the Group Executive in analysing and executing transactions in line with the Bank's broader strategy and purpose
What you'll do
As a Corporate Development Associate, you'll support on all aspects of inorganic strategy and transaction execution. You'll also be responsible for:
- Analysing and evaluating papers to see that appropriate financial rigour and reasoning has been applied in the submission, and the business case is aligned with the overall strategic direction of business
- Using your technical and business knowledge to highlight areas where further analysis or detail is required, or points require further emphasis
- Leading, monitoring and acting accordingly to make sure that the plan for the transaction and all risks, issues and dependencies are addressed
The skills you'll need

- Strategic insight and commercial awareness, including developing an understanding of how and when M&A can be used as a strategic lever to drive the strategy and purpose of the Bank
- A good working knowledge of accounting standards and their application
- A working knowledge of regulatory capital requirements
- An understanding of corporate law and how it impacts mergers and acquisitions work
- Strong analytical, interpersonal and organisational skills
- Strong excel skills and experience of financial modelling
