The firm now requires a Financial Crime Officer to join the team and primarily own the Financial Crime function, making this an excellent opportunity to hone your skills and experience, with a view to becoming an MLRO in the future. You will report directly to the Chief Compliance Officer who holds both the SMF16 and SMF17 accreditation with the FCA and PRA.

Key responsibilities of the role will include (but are not limited to):
  • Identifying Financial Crime risks and ensuring that proportionate risk controls are in place.
  • Provide pro-active advice, guidance and solutions to the business and other departments in relation to relevant regulatory rules, laws and statutory responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with Group functions to ensure that the AML risk monitoring & assurance program is being maintained and delivered accordingly. Candidates must be fully conversant with AML regulations and the processes to mitigate the risk.
  • Conduct Enhanced Due Diligence(EDD) on any suspicious transactions and file the relevant SARS reports with the National Crime Agency.
  • Conduct analysis and investigations on all transactions for CTF, Sanctions, Anti-Bribery & Corruption and PEPS and ensure that relevant actions are taken to minimise the risk to the branch and/or the group.
  • Develop and maintain policies and other guidance or materials to assist employees in fulfilling their responsibilities which meet UK operational objectives and align with Group Policies where possible.
  • Develop, maintain and conduct an effective training program which is versatile and meaningful to the target audience in addition to the embedding of policies including monitoring of completion and effectiveness.
  • Evaluate the regulatory landscape for the purpose of identifying trends, learning lessons from peers who have been fined, and any other relevant development which permits the bank to determine the impact and react in a timely fashion.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to advance their career, gaining some exceptional understanding of the international trade in Natural Resources products and also to gain further knowledge of the huge variety of responsibilities that an MLRO must undertake.
