• Helping to prepare external marketing materials, including case studies and tear sheets
• Direct interaction with senior management and collaboration across Northern Trust teams (Banking, Fiduciary, Wealth Planning, Marketing, etc.)
• Researching and preparing profiles on industries, companies, investment banks and other advisors in order to assist the team in identifying, evaluating and engaging transaction advisors
• Advocate for and represent the Northern Trust Institute and Business Advisory Services internally to Wealth Management partners and externally to potential clients and industry professionals
• Lead due diligence discussions with private business executives to quickly understand business operations and financial profiles of private businesses in order to draft executive summaries on the businesses we engage
• Maintaining transaction logs and other databases (e.g., SalesForce) throughout the transaction process for the sale of a business owner's business
• Attending client meetings and investment banking pitches as appropriate

• College degree and 1-3 years of work experience in a related field (e.g., finance, wealth management, investment banking, tax, consulting, accounting)
• Good understanding of financials statement, standard accounting practices, and the investment banking landscape
• Ability to think strategically, work independently, conduct research, manage multiple projects, and collaborate effectively with internal and external teams
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills, including proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint
• Interest in learning more about business owner issues, entrepreneurship, investment banking, mergers and acquisitions, financial modeling, valuation and other related topics
• Understanding of salesforce, Pitchbook, CapIQ, financials statements, and mergers and acquisitions processes is a plus
