About The Role

The Head of Client Business is accountable for developing the Wealth Management Australia Client Strategy, leading the Adviser network and sales enablement functions including Marketing, Practice Management and Data & Analytics.
• Accountable for the origination of the Wealth Management Australia client strategy and its effective implementation to drive revenue and mitigate risk.
• Ensure leadership, supervision, and management of State Managers in each Branch.
• Lead the State Management team to build, develop and maintain strong working relationships with financial advisers across the national network
• Lead the Sales and Marketing Office, ensuring sales management and the Adviser network are enabled through efficient and effective Marketing services, business planning and Financial Adviser capability development, underpinned by data analytics.
• Lead Morgan Stanley's advice offering, process and procedures nationally.

Firm Culture, Risk Management and Governance

Actively and visibly promote a strong risk management culture and ensure that applicable global standards and local regulatory requirements are adhered to.
• Take a leadership role in risk management forums as it relates to the Client Business function and escalate issues as appropriate to the Head of Wealth Management Australia.
• Work with the Head of Wealth Management Australia, BU Risk, Compliance and State Managers to ensure satisfactory financial adviser conduct nationally, including FASEA/Corporations Law regulation.
• Ensure Morgan Stanley's advice offering meets regulatory and Morgan Stanley policy standards, including but not limited to, client product suitability, client classification ( retail or otherwise), best interest duty, provision of SOA's.
• Work with relevant stakeholders to ensure satisfactory financial adviser conduct nationally, including FASEA/Corporations Law regulation.
• Working closely with Legal and Compliance to ensure regulatory advice changes are implemented into the business in a timely and efficient manner.
• Working with the BU Risk; Compliance and State Managers to ensure regulatory adherence of all branches nationally.
• Ensure all potential material regulatory, conduct and policy breaches are escalated to the Head of Wealth Management Australia, BU Risk and Compliance in a timely manner.

People Management

Provide on-the-ground leadership and be an active participant and role model across people management matters.
• Team Leadership - Encourage a strong sense of team within the Client Business team and ensure effective co-operation and collaborative behaviours across other functions.
• Culture and Values - Promote Morgan Stanley culture and values (e.g., compliance, diversity, financial discipline, meritocracy etc.) and ensure that appropriate local cultures are concurrently developed and respected.
• Mentoring - Advise and give guidance to leaders across the business in relation to career and professional development matters.
• Giving back - Work with Charity / Social Committees to lay out an annual staff engagement plan and provide guidance to the Committees.
• Diversity & Inclusion - Lead with inclusive leadership behaviours and champion the Morgan Stanley Diversity and Inclusion strategy.
• Employee Engagement - Work with Client Business and the Wealth Management Australia leadership team to drive employee engagement through proactive engagement initiatives.

• Experience leading Strategy, Sales & Marketing function - Highly desirable.

• Strong understanding of the Wealth Management industry, financial markets and issues involving investment banking and research matters.
• Broad business process and operational understanding; and
• Understanding/knowledge of Australian financial services legislation and the regulatory bodies.

• Ability to build a strong rapport with business units and infrastructure unit leaders.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work closely and co-operatively with the business and other support departments.
• Proven skills in data analysis and presentation of information.

• Ability to prioritise a busy workload.

Qualification/ Experience Required
• Tertiary qualified or equivalent in a relevant business discipline.
• In depth, broad and relevant working experience in the financial services industry
• Strong experience in managing teams; and
• Relevant business leadership experience.
