The Role: Operational Excellence Intern

The Team: The Managed Corporate Actions service is a best-in-class centralized source of validated corporate action announcements for nearly three million equities, fixed income, and structured finance securities across global markets. MCA services customers as a single source that streamlines operations for the collection, validation and dissemination of corporate actions.

Responsibilities: You will be an intern on the Corporate Actions Product Services team. The team is responsible for corporate actions validation operations, customer support, internal reference data, new client onboarding, vendor management, quality control, and strategic support for new product initiatives.
The Corporate Actions Product Services validation team monitors domestic and international corporate actions announcements from the point of notice inception and conducts a stringent cleansing process. MCA receives corporate actions information from vendor feeds and the global operations team researches and enriches records to produce validated corporate actions composite records for customers to pass notification on to their clients to make investment decisions.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Review corporate action announcements and conduct research to obtain details required to validate and complete announcements for publication of composite records to customers
  • Conduct research leveraging various sources, including prospectuses, information circulars, exchanges and bulletins, internet search engines and websites to successfully validate corporate action information
  • Review daily exception reports; research and resolve exceptions to ensure accurate outcome for customers to avoid risk of significant monetary penalties
  • Ensure quality control; review reports, research and deliver feedback to teammates to improve quality of manually validated corporate actions through experience and subject knowledge
  • Collaborate with local leadership to identify training needs among the team, author training plans and documentation; deliver training to local team
  • Collaborate with local and global teams to improve procedures and identify and implement opportunities to realize efficiencies and improve quality for a better downstream product
  • Contribute to user acceptance testing and special projects in partnership with Product Services teammates in other locations and with local technology counterparts
  • Understand Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and their impact on revenue and operations
What We're Looking For:
  • A bachelor or master's degree in Economics, Finance, or Business (or equivalent) completed no later than May 2024
  • Knowledge of equities and fixed income
  • Knowledge of financial markets and awareness of current global financial news
  • Experience with Excel and SQL is a plus
  • Knowledge of ISO/Swift feeds a plus
  • Experience partnering with technology counterparts preferred
  • Outstanding research skills and desire to conduct research to support judgment and decisions
Grade/Level ( relevant for internal applicants only ): 5

The Location: Dallas, Texas. Position will be Hybrid

Compensation/Benefits Information (This section is only applicable to US candidates):
S&P Global states that the anticipated hourly wage range for this position is $21 to $30. Final salary for this role will be based on the individual's geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications.
