What team will you be on?

BlackRock's Fixed Income team manages more than $1 trillion in global fixed income assets across index, active long-only, alternative, and liability driven strategies. The platform offers fixed income investors one of the industry's broadest array of investment choices across model-based and fundamental investment styles.

Why is your role important?

BlackRock is seeking a candidate to join the fast-growing world-class Financial Institutions Group as a Junior Credit Portfolio Manager in NY. In this role you will design custom portfolio solutions for clients using asset allocation, portfolio construction, risk management and other related investment skills with an emphasis on corporate credit. You will collaborate with Credit Research, Trading and Capital Markets teams to ensure that Active views are applied to the portfolios promptly, accurately and in line with portfolio guidelines and risk budgets.

What will you be doing?
  • Rebalance portfolios for flows, benchmark changes and client directed events
  • Develop strong business relationships with Lead PMs, Product Strategists, and members from Compliance, Operations and Client facing teams to ensure smooth portfolio onboarding process, new account activation and to improve day to day investment operations
  • Ensure that portfolios are in compliance with their investment guidelines and quickly raise and resolve potential issues
  • Monitor Corporate Actions Manager dashboard and process corporate action elections for team in timely manner
  • Contribute to corporate credit alpha, yield and idea generation through security selection and substitution trade idea recommendations
  • Develop analytics, reports, tools and framework to assist in better security risk monitoring and performance attribution that can be shared with broader investment team
What are we looking for?
  • BA/BS required. Progress toward CFA a plus
  • Fixed income and general finance knowledge, including an understanding of bond math and risk
  • 2+ years of experience in portfolio management or related role such as research, risk management, compliance and operations, or trading, preferably related to fixed income portfolios
  • Experience of running multi-sector portfolios
  • Strong process driven background including introduction of controls & procedures
  • Ability to learn fixed income markets, including complexities of different issue types, liquidity, and trading
  • Technical skills including advanced Excel, Aladdin. SQL and programming (VBA/MATLAB/Python) experience a strong plus
  • Demonstrated planning and time-management skills and a proven track record to work efficiently under pressure
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills
  • Possess excellent judgement, integrity, and discretion
  • Flexible, adaptable, and self-starting personality
  • Able to work in complicated situations in a mature manner
  • Demonstrated experience working both independently and as part of a team in a highly collaborative, global environment
For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $118,750 - $140,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
