Citi is looking for an exceptional team leader with an in-depth understanding of Equity Derivative operation in APAC region. VICE PRESIDENT - APAC EQUITY DERIVATIVE MIDDLE OFFICE is a senior management level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team in an effort to process orders and transactions originating from trading desks and branch offices in coordination with the operations and relevant stakeholders. The overall objective of this role is to ensure the seamless delivery of securities and derivatives transactions, oversight all aspects of daily operation and middle office support across multiple derivatives products, perform day to day risk management through in-house control process, and act as a primary escalation point of contact for all issue resolution and client matters.

Responsibilities:
  • Daily oversight all operational tasks and responsibilities such as trade life cycle and daily processing, ensuring timely escalation to minimize risk and damage.
  • Control of trade workflow including ownership of Front to Back reconciliation process, service level agreements are met and all risks are escalated and addressed in a time manner
  • Manage daily performance related to securities and derivatives post-settlement activities of operations processes
  • Provide detailed analysis of escalated issues when necessary and recommend actions for resolution
  • Partnership closely with Global Middle Office to drive global alignment and consistency, be a vocal member of the global team
  • Contribute to processing standards and expectations for securities and derivatives processing teams
  • Collaboration with business and stakeholder, both in driving new business initiative and strategic change, also develop and implement business plans, policies, and procedures that offer solutions and cost saving opportunities
  • Develop and implement client solutions, and projects affiliated with securities and derivatives settlement, ensure operational challenges are identified and dealt with effectively
  • Propose solutions and work closely with stakeholders to implement lifecycle process improvements, client service enhancements, regulatory reporting process re-engineering and overall technology development
  • Solve complex inquiries, conduct discovery and complete due diligence activities for client requests
  • Coordinate with internal and external clients to assess service quality and identify areas for improvement
  • Represent the Global Middle Office group for APAC region, take ownership of both successes and failures of the team, responsible to drive change when it is needed
  • Provide guidance and offer assistance to team members on market knowledge, client servicing and operation process
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards. Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in Investment industry and relevant Equity Derivative Middle Office function in Asia
  • In depth operational workflow and product knowledge understanding across equity structured note, futures, options, and OTC derivatives specifically in Asia region
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, extensive experience in maintaining and developing relationship with both internal and external client and stakeholders
  • Proven track record in managing a strong performing team in a fast-faced and high pressured environment
  • Aptitude for workflow and process re-engineering, candidate is required to coordinate and improve front to back operation efficiencies across trade lifecycle
  • Superior analytic and problem-solving abilities, able to manage and review large data sets, finalize conclusion and execute solution accordingly
  • Ability to conduct multiple lines of task before tight deadlines alongside with day to day responsibilities
  • Experience in supporting transaction activity across Asia markets in particular Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Korea, India and plus Australia
  • Long term commitment is essential for candidate applying for this senior role
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree from a top-tier University, Master's degree preferred
  • Fluent in English, proficient in Cantonese and Mandarin
