The responsibilities of the Deputy Managing Director of Public Equities include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Oversee, provide research expertise and be a resource for major projects and key strategic initiatives involving the Public Equities team.
· Develop and maintain a research agenda for maximizing performance of the internally managed factor-based quantitative strategies. Lead the research effort working closely with the Manager of Quantitative strategies to develop the internal portfolio management team’s capabilities in this area.
· Assist the Managing Director of Public Equities with oversight of the Public Equities portfolio.
· Assist the Managing Director of Public Equities with creating and executing on a long-term strategic plan as it relates to staffing and staff professional development.
· Assist the Managing Director of Public Equities with coordination of the System’s Investment Advisory Committee.
· Assist the Managing Director of Public Equities with coordination of the advice and activities of the System’s general investment consultant.
· In the absence of the Managing Director of Public Equities, represent Public Equities at Executive staff, committee, and Board related meetings.
· Oversee and participate in various administrative activities including annual budget process, and investment policy manual review.
· Periodic travel required.
Reporting to the Managing Director of Public Equities, this position will assist in leading and overseeing the Public Equities team and is responsible for: the research, development, and oversight of the Public Equities portfolio; providing leadership, management, supervision, guidance and expertise to the Public Equities team; in the absence of the Managing Director, representing Public Equities in all Executive Staff, Public Equities project related, committee (e.g. Internal Investment Committee) and Board related meetings; working collaboratively with management staff across all divisions and departments when required to achieve the objectives of the System. The position is responsible for performing complex duties requiring a high degree of integrity, expertise, and sound judgement.
