Job Duties: Vice President with Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in New York, New York. Assess the economic, financial, political, and social dynamics in countries where the Firm takes risk. Produce baseline macroeconomic forecasts used by the Firm for stress testing and budget planning purposes quarterly or more frequently on an as-needed basis. Manage the design and implementation of global and country-specific stress tests driven by economic and political events, as well as provide inputs, analysis, and advice for senior risk managers. Support regional and global sovereign risk surveillance efforts, which includes researching and presenting international macroeconomic and political issues and sovereign debt sustainability analysis. Provide sovereign rating advisory for governments and government-related clients across Asia, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Analyze the risks inherent in the products the Firm trades and assess their impact at the portfolio level. Supervise and mentor junior members of the team.
Job Requirements: Master's degree or Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Economics, Finance, International Finance and Economic Policy, Public Policy, Public Administration, or a related analytical field. Three (3) years of experience (with Master's degree) OR five (5) years of experience (with Bachelor's degree) in the job offered or in a related role. Prior experience must include three (3) years (with Master's degree) or five (5) years (with Bachelor's degree) with: designing comprehensive country scenarios utilizing scenario analysis, econometrics, and regression modelling; and interpreting data and presenting baseline economic forecasts and alternative scenarios to senior management and clients. Prior experience must include three (3) years with: researching, analyzing, and predicting market trends based on global macroeconomics issues, monetary and fiscal policy, social and geopolitical conditions; evaluating country creditworthiness, analyzing sovereign debt sustainability, assigning Internal Credit Rating (ICR) and Business Environment Scores (BES); extracting financial information from market-implied policy rates, inflation expectations, sovereign bond yields and credit spreads to evaluate and monitor market conditions; building analytical tools and conducting statistical analysis of large data sets involving economic statistics and financial indicators; and using sovereign rating methodologies from public rating agencies such as S&P, Moody's, or Fitch, to assess sovereign risk and advise clients on rating implications.
Salary Range: The expected annual base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $176,000 - $260,000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
