About Electronic Rates Sales

Electronic Rates Sales sits within the Macro business in Markets, and effect a commercial, client facing role. Rates products are heavily electronified, with clients transacting an increasing majority of tickets and volumes via electronic execution protocols. The E Rates Sales team provides detailed business analytics, subject matter expertise, and electronic workflow solutions for both clients and internal stakeholders across trading and sales. The team partners closely with internal Product & Platform development colleagues to align the strategy of new technology build with external trends and developments. The team also manages the firm's relationship with electronic trading venues, both established and new entrants.

About Macro
Macro distribution is responsible for the distribution of Macro products (primarily Rates and FX) to the institutional client base of Barclays Investment Bank.

Overall purpose of role

As leader of the Electronic Rates Sales team in NY, the successful candidate will be tasked with selling Barclays' electronic rates platform, which spans both existing 3 rd party trading venues and emerging technologies. The candidate will be highly motivated, have strong relationship management skills, and be driven to execute on the Rates business' commercial client strategy. The candidate will use a data driven approach to identify and close opportunities in electronic rates, both across individual clients and overall trading venues. The ideal candidate will either have existing strong relationships across both clients and venues, or have a track record of being able to establish such partnerships. The candidate will work closely with partners in Product and Technology to ensure the firm's client connectivity strategy and delivery aligns with market trends and client interest. The candidate will also work closely with existing team members to leverage and expand MI tools and client-facing content.

Key Accountabilities
  • High-tough interaction with Barclays' Rates clients to promote the electronic offering
  • Execute on business defined objectives with key franchise clients
  • Solve for achieving overall 3 rd party venue rank/position as agreed with business stakeholders
  • Manage relationships with 3 rd party trading venues, both new and established
  • Continuous monitoring and improvement of MI tools
  • Collaborate with Electronic Product team to drive early awareness/adoption of new product pipeline development from venues, new platform entrants, and other innovative technologies in the market.
  • Curate content for clients around developments in electronic trading and Barclays' differentiated offering
Stakeholder Management and Leadership

Key stakeholders include, but are not limited to, US Rates Sales & Trading, Markets Electronic leadership, eTrading Onboarding, and SRM. The candidate will need excellent communication skills in order to work closely with a wide range of internal stakeholders (including senior front office management), and engage with experienced industry professionals at our key clients. The candidate will need to be able to communicate on highly technical subjects with a range of audiences in an effective and engaging manner.

Decision-making and Problem Solving

The candidate should have strong analytical skills that support drawing commercial conclusions and actions from data. E Rates Sales is expected to identify trends and challenges evidenced by electronic trading data, and to present areas of action to the business. The team also works with stakeholders & clients to identify inefficiencies in existing workflows and uses electronic technology (exiting or to be developed) to present solutions.

Risk and Control Objective

Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.

Person Specification

Bachelors degree or equivalent; 5+ years in financial services preferred.

*Detail oriented; established track record of high accuracy in output.

*Relationship management: strong client connectivity in previous roles.

*Outstanding communication skills to work across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

*Motivation and tenacity to identify issues and areas for improvement, and subsequent engagement with stakeholders to capitalize on commercial opportunities and resolve multi-step issues.

*Strong technical knowledge of electronic Rates products & workflows
