The Role : Chief of Staff, Business Operations

The Team: The Upstream Solutions team is an integral part of S&P Global Commodity Insights. This group includes a Business Management group who assists on strategic projects through cross-function collaboration, project/program management, and go-to-market engagements.

The Impact: With the emergence of client challenges surrounding GHG emissions, the Upstream organization has responded in kind with several strategic initiatives and exciting new products in this space. One such initiative is deemed "Project Accelerate," an integrated emissions management digital platform to be built in collaboration with key client partners. There is a need for dedicated program management support to accelerate go-to-market, to improve coordination between delivery function groups, to manage the project risks and opportunities, and to assist in commercial introduction.

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the VP Business Management, the role of Client Projects Director is centered around coordination at heart. Staying in close connection with the Upstream Leadership Team (LT), clients, and delivery functional groups, this person will drive execution of special client projects (namely "Project Accelerate") across Upstream and ultimately Commodity Insights. Responsibilities include:
  • Keeping related project(s) on track, align on priorities, block scope-creep, and eliminate overlapping efforts.
  • Provide project updates and executive quality reports to management committee.
  • Coordinate with key Upstream thought leaders and technical resources to drive project deliverables.
  • Work with the commercial and product teams to drive consistency in the go-to-market process for "Project Accelerate" emissions offerings
  • Track the efficacy and ROI of portfolio (Vitality Index) and product development investments.
What We're Looking For :
  • Highly organized, business-oriented, with excellent communication skills and an affinity for driving stakeholders to a unified goal.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders in disparate groups
  • Experience creating solution sets with Upstream products and services
  • Demonstrable evidence of process development and internal adoption with ability to drive projects to completion
Required Education:
  • Bachelor's degree within relevant areas, e.g., economics, finance, business, or engineering.
  • Preference given to advanced degree holders.
Required Experience and Capabilities:
  • Combination of product management, development, finance, and all aspects of program execution, ideally in the E&P and/or Energy Transition space.
  • Ability to produce succinct reports and effectively present complex themes and insights to a variety of clients and internal audiences
  • High level of motivation and enthusiasm to deliver
  • Organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Ability to function efficiently forge informal relationships, internal and external
  • An interest in new technologies and delivery platforms, including different ways in which contents can be disseminated effectively.
