Team Overview & Job Purpose:
The GIO Cash & Asset Operations Team is a dedicated group of professionals who ensure that all BlackRock cash & position data are accurate for critical processes including investment management, analytics, compliance, and regulatory. Our team provides information services and solutions in support of all BlackRock and BlackRock Solutions businesses. The roles and responsibilities will include actively managing risk and exposure for BlackRock by ensuring the investment book of record reconciled with external prime record holders daily.

The role requires an understanding of the mechanics of the reconciliation process, exception management, troubleshooting issues, driving innovative enhancements, data analysis, maintaining documentation, assisting management in leading processes, and recommending improvements to ensure efficient and accurate processes.
Responsibilities
  • Review cash & asset position exceptions daily including researching differences and resolving them in an accurate and timely manner
  • Work with internal/external partners to ensure issues are being appropriately reviewed and progressing to completion
  • Working across APAC to assess the overall current state and potential for business model improvements
  • Perform control and risk oversight for all functions performed within the team including;
  • Ensure all accounts are reconciled and published by agreed deadlines daily
  • Review cash, position and collateral exceptions daily to ensure the team is appropriately raising and resolving
  • Identifying, leading and mitigating operational risks and raising risk and service issues on a timely basis
  • Understanding and adherence to all regulatory requirements
  • Motivated to find opportunities for process enhancements and other strategic operational enhancements that facilitates operational processes or mitigates operational risk
  • Accurately record metrics related to responsibilities to enable management to have a good view of team productivity and efficiency
  • Understand upstream processes impactful to the reconciliation and develop ability to correlate the effect of change
  • Build and maintain strong interactions with key internal & external partners including; leading & coordinating problem resolution
  • Maintain accurate and current desktop procedures
  • Embracing the BlackRock Principles and role modeling these behaviors to other team members
Experience
  • Candidate should possess 7-10 years of financial services experience and have a good understanding of Financial Markets, preferably within the Investment Management, or Global Custody environment.
  • Previous experience in Income Process, Cash & Asset Reconciliation process is preferred
  • Minimum 5 year experience preferably in global Investment Management and Investment Banking firms
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office products (with an emphasis on Excel) and an aptitude for learning new applications
  • Business proficiency in Japanese and English
  • Strong, effective analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Organized approach to ensure follow up on outstanding issues and identify appropriate action to be taken
  • Attention to detail to ensure a high degree of accuracy for all deliverables
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively articulate solutions to internal and external partners
  • Ability to multi-task and balance requests without losing sight of overall objectives and deadlines
  • Demonstration of strategic & tactical delivery in previous role(s) which would have enhanced the efficiency, risk management and control oversight of team(s) managed
  • Ability to work in a team environment and build strong relationships with colleagues and external contacts such as custodians, counterparties and other third-party providers
  • Strong initiative to follow up on outstanding issues - identify what needs to be done and take action and see through to resolution
