Macquarie's Green Investment Group (GIG) is establishing a new renewable energy platform to support the development and growth of its existing 1.7GW onshore wind, solar and storage portfolio in ANZ. The business will develop, construct, own and operate a portfolio of renewable energy assets with a mission to accelerate the green transition.

GIG is currently looking for an Analyst/Associate to join the Corporate Development function that supports this new renewable energy platform. The role will be based in Sydney or Melbourne. Initially you will join GIG, before transitioning to the platform later this year.

The Corporate Development function is critical to driving the future growth pipeline beyond an already strong portfolio. Reporting into the Corporate Development Director, with exposure to the Project and Corporate Finance Director, the role will comprise the following key responsibilities:
  • participating in sourcing and execution of investments into renewable energy assets, portfolios and platforms that accelerate the green transition (including utility scale onshore wind, solar and battery storage)
  • evaluating new investment opportunities to provide development and construction equity, and executing on those opportunities
  • supporting transactions across the platform, including managing due diligence, assisting with transaction structuring and securing investment approvals
    • undertaking valuation and financial analysis, structuring and execution of project financing and corporate financing arrangements , including building and updating financial model(s) for the platform's assets, with support and guidance from other team members
    • preparation of market research and analysis, commercial intelligences, management reports, board and shareholder materials, presentations, investment papers and marketing and investor relations materials for internal and external use
    • working closely with professional advisors and key stakeholders in a transaction setting, including legal and financial advisors, consultants, and internal stakeholders

To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • 5 years' of experience in energy, investment banking or private equity, ideally with hands on experience in M&A activities
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field such as Economics or Finance
  • Demonstrated capability in investment analysis, including incorporation of project financing and other debt structuring solutions
  • Proficiency at building complex financial models and understanding valuation concepts
  • Experience with green energy projects across the project lifecycle is preferred
  • High self-motivation, commercial, inclusive, collaborative, and collegiate with strong verbal and written communication skills
