The Role Responsibilities
  • TTO is a $4bn cost base organisation that provides technology solutions and operations excellence for the bank. TTO is a fast-paced environment undergoing significant transformation.
  • Business Tech domain within TTO consist of managing the cost base of technology services and solutions for Frontline businesses (CCIB & CPBB) as well as the Bank's support functions (Finance, HR, Legal, Compliance) and regions. The CIOs in this domain is mainly managing the application support and local Country Tech Estate and Infrastructure.
  • This role provides end to end finance leadership and oversight of the Business Tech cost space, which is c$0.5bn from an incurred cost perspective (direct management) and c$1bn from a recharge perspective (indirect oversight), covering a wide breadth of topics and stakeholders in a dynamic and fast pace working environment.
  • The successful candidate will be a trusted partner to the TTO CFO as a senior member of the Global TTO Finance Leadership team as well as the various CIOs managing each domain, the Business and Business CFOs.
Performance Management
  • This role provides financial oversight, control and strategic guidance in the Business Tech domain, with the following key responsibilities
  • End to end ownership of the P&L and balance sheet of Business Tech, driving performance management activities and ensuring that each of the units reach their financial targets.
  • Lead the annual corporate plan and target setting process for Business Tech, liaising with Enterprise Technology, business and functions, region and country leads to ensure a robust business plan with sufficient challenge and rigor. Ensure the business plan links to overall Business Tech strategy with full visibility and transparency on performance across all metrics.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate policies and procedures which ensure that the cost budgets are rigorously adhered to, that resources under the direct control and influence of Business Tech are spent carefully.
  • Act as a senior advisor to deliver insights and high impact, executive ready analysis to drive performance and enable management decision making. Thorough understanding of the underlying cost drivers and regularly present opportunities and levers to identify cost opportunities and synergies that exist between and across the Tech domains.
  • Drive a robust and accurate flash and forecasting process for the Business Tech cost base, ensuring quality of inputs and consistency of methodologies across the cost base. Active engagement at Business Reviews to drive performance management and cost discipline, ensuring full alignment across Technology on financial outlook and forecast.
  • Provide thought leadership on market trends/industry developments and deliver robust competitor benchmarking & peer analysis to understand our performance against market and influence Tech strategies to optimize our competitive position.
  • Ensure investments are properly managed and accounted for in line with the broader TTO transformation agenda, including inputs into business cases with clearly defined benefits, articulated in sufficient detail to enable effective benefits tracking and realization.
  • Develop and maintain relationships across TTO organization and the business as well as Finance community to drive ownership, optimal business outcomes and knowledge sharing.
Functional Leadership
  • Active involvement to drive improvements to the Tech (TPS) recharge framework, moving to consumption base model and enabling it to drive the right behaviours and management actions.
  • Ensure adequate financial controls and balance sheet management - with a focus on the cross-border recharges, accruals, prepayments, hardware and licence spend.
  • Lead finance activities relating to business realignment and restructures changes in Business Tech domains including change management and restatement of financial and management reporting, corporate plans, scorecards, reporting structures, and financial systems as well as tracking and reporting of cost synergy achievements.
  • Champion TTO Finance Change agenda by spearheading key initiatives to drive a "Best-in-Class" finance function with a specific focus on reports simplification, centralization and standardization and including the migration of activities to offshore support team.
People and Talent
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to a team of 6 onshore and 16 offshore, building out team's capability and fostering a business partnership mindset.
  • Ensure that holders of all critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles and that effective supervision is in place and appropriate ongoing training and development is available.
  • Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives.
Risk Management
  • Responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, controlling and mitigating risks to the Group.
  • Interpret the Group's financial information, identify key issues based on this information and put in place appropriate controls and measures.
  • Ensure a full understanding of the risk and control environment in area of responsibility including listing requirements and disclosure obligations.
Governance
  • Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
  • Responsible for delivering 'effective governance'; capability to challenge fellow executives effectively; and willingness to work with any local regulators in an open and cooperative manner.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • Finance experience of 18+ years in Banking or Technology organization
  • Significant experience in Tech cost management, with specialization in Business Tech finance, supporting Business CIOs.
  • Strong familiarity with the bank's financial systems, cost recharge models and control framework.
  • Strong knowledge of technology recharge models and experience providing finance advice on consumption based Tech costs.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management capabilities, with the ability to build trust and creditability with senior stakeholders, providing advice and challenge at a strategic level.
    Proven track record in driving cost efficiencies and productivity in Technology space.
  • Experience leading a sizable finance function / team both onshore and offshore and managing a sizable cost portfolio (>$250m).
Academic or Professional Education/Qualifications
  • University educated
  • Qualified Accountant i.e., CPA, CMA, ACCA.
