Your team:

The Marketing team at BlackRock specializes in a diverse range of functions to provide robust campaigns, advertising, communications, training, investment & educational material, and events, all supported by global centers of excellence spanning brand & content strategy, creative, research & analytics, events, and digital platforms & experiences. Together with our partners (both internal and external), we help create the conditions that maximize business outcomes for the firm.

The Marketing & Communications COO team sits at the intersection of all these activities. We play a critical role in helping set, execute on, and track progress against the department's strategy, while ensuring alignment to the priorities of the businesses we support, adherence to budgets, and strong management of operational risk.

Your role and impact

As the Business Manager for Global Marketing, you will assume a highly visible and impactful role that regularly liaises with partners across Marketing, Corporate Communications, External Affairs and BlackRock's Global Client Business to help advance the firm's business goals through effective marketing strategies and efficient deployment of resources. You will have not only direct oversight over core business management and reporting processes but also the expectation to drive innovations to continuously enhance and improve them. This role, based in our new headquarters at 50 Hudson Yards in New York City, reports to the Chief Operating Officer of Marketing & Corporate Communications.

Your responsibilities

Strategy
  • In close collaboration with the Marketing & Communications COO and Chief Marketing Officer, lead the development of the function's strategy (aka strategic growth plan) obtaining consensus throughout the process and buy-in from senior Marketing leadership to be accountable on achieving the strategy
  • Lead the annual business planning processes, including but not limited to annual operating plans, budgeting, and department priorities; partnering closely with teams to set ambitious but achievable KPIs that align with the goals of the businesses we support
  • Help set our strategic talent and DEI agenda, in partnership with talent committees, DEI ExCo lead, COO, HR, and talent acquisition


Business management:
  • Proactively manage the governance and project management disciplines around key strategic initiatives across the functions, driving accountability to deliver against stated goals and timely reporting to the Marketing ExCo
  • Lead the development and strategic messaging of key stakeholder meetings and presentations (e.g., Quarterly Business Reviews, Board Meetings, annual operating plan summaries and updates, offsites, etc.)
  • Drive budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with stakeholders in partnership with FP&A
  • Manage Marketing footprint, headcount, and pipeline plans in partnership with recruiting, hiring managers, and FP&A
  • Own and manage critical risk and compliance processes, such as Red Oak business administration, internal audit requirements, continuity planning, and vendor management / oversight
  • Aid in the developing and driving the adoption of the marketing measurement framework, leveraging data and insights to help shift and/or prioritize campaigns and capital allocations
  • Use all the reporting tools at our disposal to translate data into business insights and empower Marketing teams to make more data-driven decisions
  • Seek out efficiencies to all our processes with an eye on mitigating risk


You have...
  • 7+ years of experience in relevant functions such as operations/business management, data analytics, finance, corporate strategy, or marketing
  • Excellent communication and strong analytical skills, ideally with knowledge of Marketing and Communications concepts
  • The ability to navigate a complex, matrixed firm and liaise cross functionally
  • Deep understanding of the Asset Management industry and our various stakeholder groups, with ability to synthesize an external world view and implications for our business for internal and external audiences.
  • A relentless focus on and history of building strong relationships with stakeholders and business partners
  • A hands-on approach and a passion for digging into business management issues with the curiosity of a journalist, the diligence of an auditor, and the willingness of a student
  • A strong ability to translate data into narratives tailored for different audiences
  • The ability to maintain flexibility in the face of constantly changing environments, priorities, situations, and personalities
  • A background and/or interest in data analysis and statistics, including some experiencing automating data collection and building visualizations (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau, Excel, PPT, R, Python)


For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $180,500 - $230,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.

Our hybrid work model
