S&P Dow Jones Indices The Role: Sr. Director, Finance & Strategic Decisions Grade ( relevant for internal applicants only ): GL14 The Location: New York, Chicago and London

The Team: You are part of the S&P Global Dow Jones Indices Finance Leadership Team, reporting to the CFO . As a senior member of the team, you will have exposure to the Executive Team. You and your direct reports will engage with Enterprise Corporate Finance, various P&L owners and drive the Strategy forward for SPDJI.

The Impact: You are guiding the development of a business' operations plan over three + years while identifying opportunities to optimize growth. The roadmap you assist the CFO to influence will impact the speed of that growth. The intelligence and data you present will influence key business decisions.

Responsibilities: FP&A
  • Assist in development of annual operating plan and medium-term financial targets in partnership with CFO and CEO
  • Manage investment prioritization process and ensure linkage between capacity and unfunded projects/initiatives
  • Work with key stakeholders to tie back accountability of investments to revenue optimization, margin expansion, and longer-term return metrics
  • Partner with Corporate FP&A to advance reporting of new enterprise-wide metrics
  • Lead automation efforts within the S&P DJI finance team
  • Support other stakeholders with enterprise-wide system integrations and automation projects
  • Work with CFO to develop Board materials, Operating Committee updates, and quarterly financials
Strategy
  • In partnership with the CFO, take portfolio view of the business to identify opportunities to optimize growth
  • Work with leadership to help define priorities
  • Create and sustain competitive intelligence
  • Define appropriate KPIs and messaging to key internal and external stakeholders
  • Partner with Corporate Development team to develop cross-functional, bottom-up M&A valuations as part of Divisional deal team (incl functional coordination with Accounting, Tax, Real Estate, IT, etc.)
  • Coordinate partnership agreement opportunities including idea generation, access to management, development of purchase agreement terms, earnouts, TSA, etc.
What We're Looking For:
  • Solution-oriented, strategic thinker; balances understanding of enterprise business needs with divisional specific needs
  • Strong organizational skills including ability to manage multiple projects / activities at a given time
  • Comfortable with both quantitative and qualitative analysis; ability to leverage and organize data to support decisions
  • Operates with a sense of urgency, ability to work under tight and sometimes competing priorities
  • Ability to flex beyond recurring projects and lead key strategic initiatives, not exclusively within FP&A space
  • Can tell a compelling story with data
  • Experience with
    • Presenting in executive-level management meetings
    • Competitor intelligence (publicly-traded competitors)
    • Board of Directors materials preparation and financial reporting
    • M&A financial analysis (e.g. valuation)
    • Leading, developing and mentoring a team
    • Creative thinking and questioning the status quo
Compensation/Benefits Information: S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $148,200 to $300,000. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.

Basic Qualifications:
  • CPA, MBA, CFA and / or other relevant professional qualifications
  • 10+ years experience in finance (FP&A, investment banking, equity research)
