The Role: Associate Director - Energy Transition and Decarbonization (USA)

The Location: Houston / Washington / Boston / New York

The Americas Energy Transition Consulting Team is a trusted advisor of leading companies in the traditional and new energy sectors, investor, and governments. Typical studies range from energy transition strategy assistance, transaction support, emissions reduction roadmap development, and ESG/Energy policy advise.

This role will contribute to the execution of our team's projects for private and public sector clients with a focus on their transition to low-carbon energy resources, including techno-economic analysis of emissions management options and decarbonization opportunities, as well as developing new low-carbon energy resources.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team of consultants and experts with wide-ranging backgrounds in energy and the energy transition. The varied and changing nature of our projects leads to development of a diverse set of skills, and exposure to different industries and clients, including senior industry leaders and policy makers.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop new consulting business in Americas including the full chain from client relationship building, opportunity identification, proposal development, closing of sale, and then to delivery of work.
  • Develop client proposals. This requires clear written and verbal communications skills and analytical creativity to determine deliverables that best serves client needs and budget and maximize the service which S&P can provide.
  • Project management responsibilities require that the candidate manages the analysis and report generation required to satisfy client projects. Consulting Associate Directors are also required to lead project teams and to independently complete analysis and reports as needed.
  • The person in this role needs to be able to set up and perform all analytical work needed to deliver a successful engagement to the client.
  • Be able to work on spreadsheet models and extract information from such models and together with industry insight and experience provide deliverables to satisfy unique single client requirements.
  • Be able to summarize findings into concise presentations/reports and deliver/present findings to clients.
What We're Looking For:
  • 10+ years of energy consulting, industry, or investment experience preferably with energy transition topics
  • Prior management consulting experience
  • Good understanding of energy markets and underlying fundamentals, regulations, and policies; specific experience and/or knowledge of specific segments of the energy industry preferred
  • Strong written and oral presentation skills in English (Spanish and Portuguese a plus).
  • Proficient public speaker, excellent verbal and written communication skills and excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Some travel is required average around 20% of time (but could occasionally be more)
Grade/Level ( relevant for internal applicants only ): 12

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $130,000 to $180,000. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.
