Customer Insights & Analytics ("CI&A") is a collaborative global team responsible for high quality origination and delivery of best-in-class customer and industry insights, to differentiate our sales proposition and enhance our conversations with valued clients. Our portfolio risk management provides robust analysis to support and deliver sustainable credit decisions, within a wholesale banking environment.

CI&A Consumer & Industrials is a dynamic and engaging part of Westpac's Institutional Bank, typically working with corporate clients with complex financing requirements. Analysts work closely with the Relationship Managers providing innovative solutions for our customers' banking needs.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a dedicated, nimble and enthusiastic person to join Westpac Institutional Bank in the Customer Insights & Analytics team, in Sydney. The primary responsibility of this Credit Analyst role is to efficiently manage a portfolio of corporate customers, ensuring the ongoing monitoring and management of your customer portfolio are met, specifically risk profiling, financial analysis and preparation of credit submissions. The successful candidate will also be involved with the origination of new complex transactions, and work closely with the team on private equity sponsored transactions.

Your main responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
  • Relationships: build relationships and establish rapport with both clients and internal stakeholders, and support Relationship Managers by participation in and contribution to customer meetings
  • Industry Research: developing and reporting industry insights, and sharing this knowledge with key internal stakeholders and customers
  • Analysis: risk profiling, financial analysis and preparing credit submissions
  • Monitoring: undertaking dynamic risk management of assigned customers incorporating accurate and timely monitoring of triggers, covenants, completion of periodic reviews and continuous risk monitoring
  • Collaboration: information sharing and contributing to strategy papers and other team initiatives

What do I need?

Success in this role will rely on your ability to quickly review, digest and contribute to credit analysis and portfolio management, working both independently and supporting the team. Your ability to suggest and carry out practical actions to deal with issues will be encouraged.

The successful candidate will have analytical responsibility for a discrete portfolio of Consumer and Industrial customers, as well as providing support for the origination of new customers into the Westpac Institutional Banking portfolio.

Some further advantageous skills:
  • Experience in corporate and institutional banking, finance, accounting or a corporate background;
  • A relevant tertiary qualification with a major in Accounting, Commerce or Finance preferred;
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills, being able to interact with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders;
  • Enthusiasm, drive to seek a challenge, adaptability and be a quick learner;
  • Attention to detail and operational expertise; and
  • Client interaction / relationship management experience would be beneficial.
